THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Gracious and merciful God, forgive us: In our words we are tempted to speak
truth in whispered tones. In our work, we are tempted to serve you with halfhearted
energy. In our homes, we are tempted to forget that you have called us to
live in community. As you forgive and make us whole again, give us we pray, a gentle
boldness, and a new spirit within us. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

* THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 473)

friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild, Lord of all to thee we raise this
our hymn of grateful praise.
