* THE HYMN 422 God, Whose Giving Knows No Ending

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of grace, we confess that we have elevated the things of this world above
you. We have made idols of possessions and people. We confess with shame
our slowness to learn your way and to live as stewards of your gifts. Have
mercy on us, Lord, and forgive us. Bring us back into the fullness of our covenant
with you and one another. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

* THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 280)
The Lord has promised good to me, his word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be as long as life endures.

* THE PEACE OF CHRIST
(Children ages 2-11 are invited to leave after the Peace of Christ for special classes. Three-year-olds are in
Room 208; Pre-K in 011; K - 2nd grade in 001; 3rd - 6th grade in 005.)

THE CONCERNS OF THE CHURCH
(Visitors and members are invited to sign the blue friendship register pad and pass it down the pew.)

THE FIRST LESSON Psalm 30:1-12 (page 478 in the pew Bible)

THE SOLO Wade in the Water Spiritual
Tim Miller, tenor
Wade in the water children, God's gonna trouble the water. See that host all dressed in white, the leader
looks like the Israelite. See that band all dressed in red, looks the band that Moses led. If you don't believe
I've been redeemed, just follow me down to Jordan's stream. God's gonna trouble the water.

THE SECOND LESSON 2 Kings 5:1-14 (page 320 in the pew Bible)

THE SERMON "Wade in the Water" Alicia Wilson
But his servants approached and said to him, "Father, if the prophet had commanded you
to do something difficult, would you not have done it? How much more,
when all he said to you was, ‘Wash, and be clean?'" 2 Kings 5:13

* THE HYMN 316 Breathe on Me, Breath of God

* THE APOSTLES' CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy
Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified,
dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again
from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of
God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick
and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of
saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.
Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and
forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory,
forever. Amen.

THE OFFERTORY Simple Gifts Shaker tune, arr. Porter

* THE DOXOLOGY AND PRAYER OF DEDICATION (Hymn 592)

* THE HYMN 379 My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less

* THE CHARGE AND BENEDICTION

* THE RESPONSE Battle Hymn of the Republic Howe/Steffe
Tim Miller, tenor
