WELCOME ALICIA WILSON

We welcome Alicia Wilson as our guest preacher this morning. Alicia has been our worship leader for second and third graders this school year, and over the summer is leading the Double Digits group. She is originally from Salisbury, North Carolina and graduated from Furman University with majors in Religion and Greek. Alicia graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary in May with a Master of Divinity degree, and will begin a year of hospital chaplaincy with Emory Center for Pastoral Services in the fall. We are grateful to welcome Alicia to the pulpit at Morningside this morning!

THIS MORNING’S CALL TO WORSHIP

The Call to Worship this morning is based on Psalm 95:1-7. It was written by our 3rd-6th graders in children's worship on June 13, as part of their study of Christian worship.

CHANCEL CHOIR/GUEST SOLOIST

We offer our thanks to Morningside’s chancel choir for their musical offerings this summer. Today they are enjoying a well-deserved day of rest. We welcome Timothy Miller as our guest soloist today. Tim is on the voice faculty at Morehouse College and has sung numerous roles with Atlanta Opera, Mannes Opera Program, Oakland Opera, Americolor Opera, and the Atlanta Symphony. Tim is also a regular featured soloist at the Atlanta Braves games!

CHURCH OFFICE CLOSED MONDAY

The church offices will be closed Monday, July 5 in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (USA): 219th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

From July 3 to 10, the 219th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) is meeting in Minneapolis, and Chris Henry is serving as a commissioner to the General Assembly from the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta. You can follow the events of the Assembly at www.pcusa.org/ga219/.  Let us all pray for the Presbyterian Church (USA) as we seek to demonstrate the love and justice of Jesus Christ to the world.

CLIFTON SANCTUARY MINISTRIES

We would like to provide a welcome basket for each man who moves from Clifton into their own home; so during the month of June we have collected pantry items for those baskets. Please return final items by this Tuesday, July 6.

DAY 1

Chris Henry is the featured speaker on next Sunday's "Day 1" broadcast, which airs locally on WSB 750 AM at 7:05a.m. The sermon, "Tell Me A Story," is based on the parable of the Good Samaritan. It will also be available on the Day 1 podcast, which can be found at www.day1.org. The Day 1 radio program, formerly called the Protestant Hour, presents sermons by Protestant preachers from across America and is distributed to over 200 radio stations.

PASTOR ON CALL

Through Saturday, July 10, Chris Henry will be attending the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Minneapolis. If a pastoral need arises, Rev. Mary Miller Brueggemann is pastor on call. You can reach Mary at 404.327.9159, mmbruegg9@gmail.com, or by calling the church office.
