THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
"This is the most profound spiritual truth I know: that even when we're most sure that love can't conquer all, it seems to anyway. It goes down into the rat hole with us, in the guise of our friends, and there it swells and comforts. It gives us second winds, third winds, hundredth winds."
~Anne Lamott
PASTOR ON CALL
Chris Henry is attending the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in Minneapolis through Saturday, July 10. If a pastoral need should arise, Rev. Mary Miller Brueggemann is pastor on call. You can reach Mary at 404.327.9159, mmbruegg9@gmail.com, or by calling the church office.
JULY 11-DAY 1
Chris Henry is the featured speaker on this Sunday's "Day 1" broadcast, which airs locally on WSB 750 AM at 7:05 a.m. The sermon, "Tell Me A Story," is based on the parable of the Good Samaritan. It will also be available on the Day 1 podcast, which can be found at www.day1.org. The Day 1 radio program, formerly called the Protestant Hour, presents sermons by Protestant preachers from across America and is distributed to over 200 radio stations.
JULY 11-Young Adult Gathering
We will meet after church this Sunday to enjoy a meal together at Osteria. Contact Brooke Lampe at brookelmsw@gmail.com with any questions.
July 18-Sing with the Choir
Ever wanted to sing with Morningside's Chancel Choir, but didn't think you had the time or the training? Well, here's your chance to join them for a "One Sunday Only" appearance! Eight MPC members can sign up (first come, first serve) by emailing music@morningsidepc.org. Three men have signed up already. There are slots for one more man and four women. Don't be shy! Those singing must come to one rehearsal on July 14, 7:30-9 p.m. and arrive on July 18 for a 9:30 a.m. warm-up/rehearsal. Wear a robe, process with the choir, and sing a simple arrangement of "Be Thou My Vision." If you can carry a tune, you're in!
Church Retreat to Montreat-November 19-21
Rev. Dr. Tom Evans, Executive Presbyter of Greater Atlanta, will be retreat leader. More information and registration forms are available in the narthex. Registration deposit is due July 18.

...Kim Crane and her family (MPC's 2010 Habitat homebuyer) were chosen to receive the 2010 Home for the Holidays award from the Warrick Dunn Family Foundation. On June 29, NFL great Warrick Dunn, Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed, and Habitat for Humanity participants witnessed the surprise presentation---a fully furnished home all the way down to a stocked pantry. Congratulations Crane Family!
