THIS MORNING'S AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
For this morning's Affirmation of Faith, we use a portion of The Confession of 1967, one of the eleven confessional statements of our denomination. The central doctrines of this bold modern creed include reconciliation and the equality of all persons.
YOUNG ADULT GATHERING
We will be meeting after church today to enjoy a meal together at Osteria. Contact Brooke Lampe with any questions.
PICK-A-PAN SUNDAY
Take home an empty pan from the narthex today and return it by 10 a.m. this Tuesday, July 13 with the requested food to join us in providing lunch to 45 men attending the Common Ground program at Atlanta AIDS Faith & Health.
JULY 18—SING WITH THE CHOIR
Ever wanted to sing with Morningside’s Chancel Choir, but didn’t think you had the time or the training? Well, here’s your chance to join them for a “One Sunday Only” appearance! Eight MPC members can sign up (first come, first serve) by emailing music@morningsidepc.org. Those singing must come to one rehearsal on July 14, 7:30-9 p.m. and arrive on July 18 for a 9:30 a.m. warm-up/rehearsal. Wear a robe, process with the choir, and sing a simple arrangement of “Be Thou My Vision.” If you can carry a tune, you’re in!
DAY 1
Chris Henry was the featured speaker on this morning's "Day 1" broadcast, which airs locally on WSB 750 AM. The sermon, "Tell Me A Story," is also available on the Day 1 podcast, which can be found at www.day1.org. The Day 1 radio program, formerly called the Protestant Hour, presents sermons by Protestant preachers from across America and is distributed to over 200 radio stations.
ATLANTA COMMUNITY FOOD BANK
12 MPC volunteers will sort food at ACFB next Saturday, July 17, 9 a.m.-12 noon. Contact shepherds Anna and Miguel Garcia at Garcia.miguel@comcast.net with questions or sign up on bulletin board across from Session Room.
THEATER OUTING
MPC is going to see Shrew, the Musical, based on Shakespeare’s ‘Taming of the Shrew’ next Sunday, July 18 at 7 p.m. at Georgia Shakespeare on the Oglethorpe University campus. Contact Jill Klotz at wageworth@aol.com with questions.
CHURCH RETREAT TO MONTREAT-NOVEMBER 19-21

‘IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT ME’ II
Mission Camp returns July 26-31 with 21 children registered! Do you have one day to give to this great endeavor? We need chaperones Monday through Thursday, and we are seeking three more large tents to borrow for the Friday night sleepover at Noah’s Ark Animal Rescue Center. Contact Melinda Sandkam to help out.
For that week, we are also in need of healthy snacks, lunches, and beverages, and we are looking for volunteers to assist in providing these nutritional needs as our children participate in several missions in our community to explore the concept of "It’s not all about me." Please contact Shannon Lazzaro if you are able to participate at Lazzaroshannon@yahoo.com.
INTOWN COLLABORATIVE MINISTRIES
The Intown Collaborative Ministries (formerly ICA) is a ministry cooperative of congregations in zip codes 30306 and 30307 intended to help alleviate hunger by providing nutritious food and social growth through meaningful service. We will be collecting food donations July 18 through August 1. The current needs include: canned vegetables and fruits, pasta sauce, peanut butter, canned meats, fruit juices, cold cereals and crackers.
