WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY

Welcome to worship at Morningside Church. Please complete the information in the Friendship Pad at the end of the pews and pass the pads down and back again during The Concerns portion of worship. Worship notebooks and books for children are located on the kiosk outside the sanctuary. Nursery for infants is in Room 105; toddlers 18 months through 2 years are in Room 012. Children ages 2-11 are invited to leave after the Dedication for special classes. Threes, fours & fives are in Room 011; K - 1st grade in Room 001; 2nd - 3rd grade in Room 003; 4th - 7th grade Room 005.

Flowers in the sanctuary

The flowers in the sanctuary are given in honor of all the children, parents, and educators in our church community by the Barnette family. May all our journeys be rich with wonder, wisdom and new adventures.

THE New school year

Join us here at Morningside Presbyterian as we dedicate the new school year, celebrating and honoring not only the teachers, volunteers and students here, but throughout our communities.
From preschool to graduate school, special education teachers to professors, and everyone in between, we are thankful. We also pray for students around the world, as we grow our relationships with the children at the Thornwell Home, the boys at St. Joseph’s in Haiti, and preschoolers at Decatur’s Our House.

Thornwell Offering

This morning, we invite you to participate in a special offering for Thornwell Home for Children in Clinton, SC. This Presbyterian outreach serves at least 100 children each year from toddlers to teenagers. Some stay for only a few months, others grow up there.

Fall sermon series

This morning, Chris Henry begins a five-week sermon Series on Burning Questions for 21st Century Christians. Each week's sermon will consider one of the most pressing questions that Christians face as we seek to live out our faith in the contemporary world. Next week, we continue with the question, "Who Will Be Saved? A Theology of World Religions." May we all grow deeper in faith this fall as together we struggle to understand how God speaks in our time and place.

Mission with children

Mission Camp may be over, but our children can still reach out to those in need. Elementary age children are welcome to a mission hour at 9:45 a.m. in Room 001 next Sun., Aug. 22.  Please let Rachel Spears rachelespears@yahoo.com know that your child will be attending.

Attention parents of Children age three and up

Please come to one of our Sunday School Volunteer fellowship and training sessions Sun., Aug. 22, 12:30 - 2 p.m. or Wed. Aug. 25, 6 - 7:30 p.m. We appreciate your help in your child's class and want to make that time the best it can be. There will be time for fellowship, a light meal, and a short discussion on how to get the most out of your experience and what to expect when you assist in the classroom. RSPV to Jill Davis jsamail@yahoo.com or 404.687.0617

Women’s roundtable

All women of Morningside Presbyterian Church are invited to the Women's Roundtable as it resumes Mon., Aug. 23, 6:30 p.m. at the home of Amy Jarratt (1067 N. Pelham Rd., 30324). Ginny Fergus has a delicious supper planned but would love to hear from you to volunteer to help with food in the future ginny@vsfergus.com. Email office@morningsidepc.org with your reservation by Aug. 16.  Grace Hawkins, executive director of the Global Village Project, an international school for girls at Decatur Presbyterian Church, will be the speaker.

Adult Studies this Fall

Beginning today and through Advent, the Discipleship Ministry Team has prepared excellent study opportunities for all adults at MPC.  Each Sunday at 9:45a.m. there will be two offerings -- one focused on the Bible and what it means for us today and the other focused on issues faced by Christians in the 21st century.  The Morningside Bible Class meets in Room 201; the Faith Issues Class meets in the Session Room 103. The Menu for all of these opportunities is available in the Narthex.  Pick one up today!
