9:45 a.m. Church School for all ages / Inquirers Class In aaquirers Class
ADULT: The Morningside Bible Class will begin a new series on one of the most well-known and complex figures of the Old Testament, King David. Next week, we begin with a study of 1 Samuel 16:1-13, where David is first introduced and immediately anointed as king. The Bible Class meets each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. Room 201. All are welcome.

A new Faith Issues Class begins meeting weekly in the Session Room at 9:45 a.m. Our first session is led by Browning Fergus, president of the GA Assoc. for Marriage & Family Therapy and MPC member. His topic, Living to Work or Working to Live?, focuses on balance in a frenzied world. Everyone is welcome!

CHILDREN: Preschool children will learn of Jesus' love for children in Come to Me.

Favorite Old Testament Bible Stories will be the focus for K-3rd grades. Double Digits are studying the offering in the "Worship for Life" curriculum.

Please keep the following in your prayers as they work in Nashville Aug. 18-21 with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, rebuilding after the May floods: John Adams, Jack Klotz, Melinda Sandkam, Duncan Spears and John Watson.

Adult Studies This Fall
The Discipleship Ministry Team has prepared excellent study opportunities for all adults at MPC through Advent. Each Sunday at 9:45a.m. there will be two offerings -- one will meet in Room 201 and the other will meet in the Session Room. The Menu for all of these opportunities is available in the Narthex.

BAPTISMS THIS SUNDAY
Haden and Finley Holaway, son and daughter of Shawn and Mary Hardy Holaway, will be baptized this Sunday.

Fall Sermon Series
This Sunday, Chris Henry continues the sermon series on Burning Questions for 21st Century Christians with the question, "Who Will Be Saved? A Theology of World Religions."

Women's Roundtable
All women of Morningside Presbyterian Church are invited to the Women's Roundtable as it resumes Mon., Aug. 23, 6:30 p.m. at the home of Amy Jarratt (1067 N. Pelham Rd., 30324). Ginny Fergus has a delicious supper planned but would love to hear from you to volunteer to help with food in the future ginny@vsfergus.com. Email office@morningsidepc.org with your reservation as soon as possible. Grace Hawkins, executive director of the Global Village Project, an international school for girls at Decatur Presbyterian Church, will be the speaker.


Did you know...

...that MPC member Bart Smith was recently approved as a Candidate for Ministry from our congregation? Bart is beginning his second year at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary this fall.
