ADULT: The Morningside Bible Class will continue its series on one of the most well-known and complex figures of the Old Testament, King David. Jim Martin will lead a study of 1 Samuel 26:1-23, an intriguing passage contrasting David and the former king, Saul. The class meets at 9:45 a.m. in Room 201, and all are welcome.

Throughout September, the Faith and Issues class will welcome as guest teacher Dr. Kathy Dawson, Associate Professor of Christian Education at Columbia Theological Seminary. Dr. Dawson will share helpful insights for all adults on how children develop and grow in Christian faith. The class meets in the Session Room at 9:45 a.m.

CHILDREN: The Preschool Class will respond to the story It's a Noisy Place! with animal activities. Younger Elementary Classes will learn how Joseph served as God's messenger to Pharaoh. "Double Digits" will look more deeply into how Joseph's interpreted Pharaoh's dreams to reveal God's will.

New Children's Worship Leaders
We are pleased to announce that we have hired two children's worship leaders for Sunday mornings. Debbi Loomis will be leading our kindergarten-1st grade class. She teaches three year olds here at Morningside Presbyterian Preschool during the week and is also a nanny. Shavon Starling-Louis is a first year student at Columbia Theological Seminary and will be leading the 2nd-3rd grade kids. Please welcome both of them along with their families in the weeks ahead.

MORNINGSIDE CHILDREN'S CHOIRS
Treble Choir has its first rehearsal and parents meeting this Wednesday, September 1 at 6:30 p.m., and Cherub Choir has its first rehearsal and parents meeting on September 8 at 6 p.m. For more information, contact Tamara Nix at 404.805.8955.

We are making final plans to take pictures for our very own digital church directory on Sept. 12, 19 and 26. Sign up for your five minute appointment after worship on the bulletin board across from the Session Room (103) or by emailing the church office.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS
Last Sunday Morningside welcomed the following new members:

- Cynthia Holzheimer is an interior architect who enjoys landscaping and baking. Cynthia and husband Steven have named their pet cat "Demon" (there must be stories!). She joins by transfer of letter.

- Daniel Easton is an events manager who is learning to play the piano. He likes to boat and ski. Daniel joins by transfer of letter.

- David Ecton and Lance Jackson enjoy spending free time with their seven-year old son Thomas. David makes his living as a marketing director for a tech firm and Lance as an interior designer. David and Lance join by transfer of letter.

- Dale Gustafson is a sales director for a hotel. He has interests in dog training and traveling. He joins by transfer of letter.

- Jason and Julie Loring are attorneys and new parents to Oliver (3 months). They enjoy reading and traveling. Jason joins by reaffirmation and Julie by transfer of letter.

- William Kitchens is a senior surgical resident in Boston, currently on research sabbatical getting his Ph.D. in transplant immunology at Emory. He joins by transfer of letter.

HOMES
MPC is signed up with HOMES to work Saturday, September 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help elderly people still living in his/her own home with simple maintenance and yard work. There is a volunteer sign-up sheet on the mission bulletin board. For more information contact Lloyd Prince or Jack Klotz.

Did you know...
...that Gloria Joiner on a recent visit to Niagara Falls took a trip on one of the "Maid of the Mist" boats? If you haven't had the pleasure, these boats ride very close to the falls (often called a "white knuckle" experience). So close, that you are given rain gear before boarding the boat because the mist gets so thick you can barely see! Way to go, Gloria!
