Please join us on Wednesday, September 22 at 7 p.m. when the small group Bible study, part of our adult education ministry, will look at the book of Daniel and how it impacts us in today’s world. THEOLOGY ON TAP: SEASON FOUR
The first gathering of the fall is set for this Tuesday, September 14 at 7 p.m. We will gather at the home of Van Crisco (466 Seminole Avenue, 30307). Topic: “Personal Transformation and the God You Understand: Lessons Learned from Addiction and Recovery” with special guest Richard LaMadeleine, who is a retired Catholic priest and Director of Spiritual Counseling at Talbott Recovery Campus and Anchor Hospital in Atlanta. ONE GRAY HAIR LUNCHEON
We are very fortunate to have Lynn Coulter as our guest speaker at this month’s luncheon on September 15. Lynn is a freelance journalist whose work has appeared in Delta's SKY Magazine, Southern Living, Family Circle, AAA Traveler, Progressive Farmer, Georgia Magazine, Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, and many other publications. Lynn is the author of two books: Mustard Seeds: Thoughts on the Nature of God and Faith (2008) and Gardening with Heirloom Seeds: Tried and True Flowers, Fruits, and Vegetables for a New Generation (2006). Her new book, Little Mercies: Celebrating God's Everyday Grace and Goodness will be published in Spring, 2011. Lynn lives in the metro Atlanta area with her husband and son. BIBLE AND BRUNCH
This fall, we begin a new monthly event at Morningside that combines Bible study and fellowship. Our first "Bible and Brunch" program takes place this Thursday, September 16, at 10 a.m. All Morningside members and friends are invited to Room 201 for a study of the Letter to the Ephesians, which contains some of the most poetic and beautiful language in the New Testament. This month, we study Ephesians 1:1-23. At 11:15, all who are interested in sharing brunch will travel together to a local restaurant for table fellowship. Plan to join us! Childcare provided.
HOMES (Home Owner Maintenance & Enhancement for Seniors)
MPC is signed up with HOMES to work next Saturday, September 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help elderly people still living in their own home with simple maintenance and yard work. YOUNG ADULTS LUNCH

DR. FRED CRADDOCK AT MORNINGSIDE SEPTEMBER 26
Make plans to be in worship on Sunday, September 26 when our guest preacher will be the Reverend Dr. Fred B. Craddock, Bandy Professor of Preaching and New Testament Emeritus at Candler School of Theology. Dr. Craddock is a world-renowned author, teacher, preacher, theologian, and storyteller. He has preached and taught all over the world, and his books and ideas have had a profound impact on preachers and churches from across denominational lines. He is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and lives in Cherry Log, Georgia where he is Director Emeritus of the Craddock Center, a nonprofit organization serving the people of Southern Appalachia. Fred Craddock is a legendary and much sought-after preacher and lecturer, and we are so fortunate to welcome him to Morningside on September 26.
HELP FILL “SECOND SUITCASE” FOR HAITI PILGRIMAGE
If Haiti has captured your heart but you aren’t able to join the MPC pilgrimage October 9-15, you can still make a difference by sending a little love along with our travelers. Each of our 14 volunteers will carry a “second suitcase” filled with items for our friends at St. Joseph’s Home for Boys, where our volunteers will work and live while in Haiti. St. Joseph’s Home is part of the St. Joseph Family, which includes three homes in Haiti helping more than 80 children get off the streets and live a Christian family life. Bible Class - A Solitary Many: The Conflicted Life of King David
Next Sunday, September 19, the Morningside Bible Class will conclude its series on one of the most well-known and complex figures of the Old Testament, King David. We'll consider 2 Samuel 18, David's emotional and stirring response to the death of his son Absalom. The class meets each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in Room 201, and all are welcome.
Faith and Issues Class - Adults and Children Sharing Faith
Throughout September, the Faith and Issues class will welcome as guest teacher Dr. Kathy Dawson, Associate Professor of Christian Education at Columbia Theological Seminary. Dr. Dawson will share helpful insights for all adults on how children develop and grow in Christian faith. The class meets in the Session Room at 9:45 a.m.

Today the story Adam and Eve introduces Preschoolers to what happened when God added humans to Creation. Early Elementary Classes will consider the messages that Moses and Aaron delivered to Pharaoh. “Double Digits” will be in worship.
