CELEBRATING THEOLOGICAL EDUCATION

As part of worship on this Seminary Sunday, Morningside takes part in our denomination's celebration of theological education. We are pleased to welcome Rev. Dr. Christine Roy Yoder, Associate Professor of Old Testament Language, Literature, and Exegesis at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, who will share a minute message and serve as a liturgist this morning. Morningside's connection and commitment to Columbia Seminary is both a strong part of our history and a vital part of our present mission and ministry.

LAY LITURGIST

In keeping with the Presbyterian tenet of the priesthood of all believers, Morningside maintains a Lay Liturgy Team.  Our lay reader this morning is Katie Davis.

YOUNG ADULTS LUNCH

Young Adults will go to lunch today following worship. We plan to eat at 12:30 at Rosebud, an area restaurant. Please join us.

DIGITAL CHURCH DIRECTORY

DARE TO BE A DANIEL?

Please join us on Wednesday, September 22 at 7 p.m. when the small group Bible study, part of our adult education ministry, will look at the book of Daniel and how it impacts us in today’s world. The group meets in members’ homes bi-weekly, and Mary Miller Brueggemann will host September 22. For more information, contact Link Marx at fmarx25@yahoo.com or 404.323.9174.

DR. FRED CRADDOCK AT MORNINGSIDE NEXT SUNDAY

Make plans to be in worship next Sunday when our guest preacher will be the Reverend Dr. Fred B. Craddock, Bandy Professor of Preaching and New Testament Emeritus at Candler School of Theology. Dr. Craddock is a world-renowned author, teacher, preacher, theologian, and storyteller. He has  preached and taught all over the world, and his books and ideas have had a profound impact on preachers and churches from across denominational lines. He is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and lives in Cherry Log, Georgia where he is  Director Emeritus of the Craddock Center, a nonprofit organization serving the people of Southern Appalachia. Fred Craddock is a legendary and much-sought after preacher and lecturer, and we are so fortunate to welcome him to Morningside next week.
