THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
"When I was in my late teens, I wanted to be a preacher. When I was in my late twenties, I wanted to be a good preacher. Now that I am older, I want more than anything else to be a Christian. To live simply, to love generously, to speak truthfully, to serve faithfully, and leave everything else to God." ~Fred Craddock, from Craddock Stories
A Word from Chris:
Dear Friends,
This Sunday, September 26, Morningside is so honored to welcome the Rev. Dr. Fred B. Craddock as our distinguished guest preacher. Dr. Craddock is Bandy Professor of Preaching and New Testament Emeritus at Emory's Candler School of Theology, Minister Emeritus of Cherry Log Christian Church, and Director Emeritus of The Craddock Center, a non-profit organization serving the people of Southern Appalachia. His books, sermons, classes, and ideas have had a profound impact on churches across denominational lines for more than fifty years. When Baylor University conducted a worldwide survey to determine the twelve most effective preachers in the English-speaking world, Dr. Craddock was on that list. He has lectured, taught, and preached to Christian communities, congregations, and conferences all over the world. Dr. Craddock is a master storyteller, a gifted theologian, a powerful preacher, and a deeply committed person of faith. You will be nourished, moved, and enlivened by his preaching. I hope that you will make plans to be here on Sunday as we welcome Dr. Craddock--it will be a day to remember at Morningside!
Grace and Peace,
Chris Henry
