Huff Anniversary Events
We've had a great reservation response for the dinner celebrating Walter's 20th Anniversary as Music Director of Morningside on October 16th and you still have time if you haven't made yours, but not much, the deadline is October 1, that's Friday, this Friday..........if you haven't mailed your RSVP card, call the church office........call NOW, and let Anna know that you plan to attend, then bring your RSVP card and check to church on Sunday to confirm your place(s) at the dinner. Sunday, October 17th will also be memorable - Special Music during worship (yes, you know who will be in charge and we wouldn't have it any other way), we will welcome Morningside choir alumni, and following worship, a not-to-be-missed reception during the Fellowship Hour. Plan to be here, you won't want to miss it.
Sunday, October 3
World Communion THIS Sunday
This morning, along with Christian communities all over the globe, we observe World Communion Sunday. This annual celebration originated in 1936 when a group of Presbyterian ministers gathered for prayer and conversation about the role of the church in a time of economic upheaval and worldwide instability. Their hope was to emphasize the unity of the church and of its mission throughout the world. Today, as we celebrate the sacrament of the Lord's Supper, we are reminded of that unity and of our call to give witness to Christ's reconciling love throughout the world.
Peacemaking Offering
As part of World Communion Sunday, Morningside will join efforts with more than 4500 Presbyterian churches to support the Peacemaking Offering. This special offering was created in 1980 to support efforts of the Presbyterian Church to live out a deeper commitment to peacemaking as part of our faithfulness to God. Please consider a gift to this worthy cause this Sunday.
CONTINUING THE CONVERSATION
After worship this Sunday we will have a chance to share further thoughts on the sermon topic in the Fellowship Hall. Questions and comments from you, the congregation, will be the focus. A light lunch will be available prior to the conversation. Childcare provided in Room 105.
Loving God's Creation
The 2nd and 3rd grade fall outing is a trip to Morningside Nature Preserve to pick up litter after worship this Sunday. Bring a lunch and meet Shavon Starling-Louis in Room 003 for adventure from 12:15 to 2 p.m. Contact Shavon at shavon.starling-louis@students.ctsnet.edu to RSVP and/or to volunteer to chaperone.
