THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
"Forgiveness is the name of love practiced among people who love poorly. The hard truth is that all people love poorly. We need to forgive and be forgiven every day, every hour increasingly. That is the great work of love among the fellowship of the weak that is the human family."
~Henri J.M. Nouwen

NEWS FROM CHRIS HENRY
In worship yesterday, Rev. Chris Henry shared the news that he has been called to serve as Senior Pastor of Shallowford Presbyterian Church in northeast Atlanta. Chris' last Sunday at Morningside will be December 5th. A letter from Chris was sent to the congregation yesterday with more details.

UPDATE from the PNC
Please visit the PNC section of Morningside's website (http://www.morningsidepc.org/news/pnc.html) to see the exciting progress that the PNC continues to make in the search for our next Pastor! Also, for those who missed church Sunday, we have attached a copy of PNC member Jennye Guy's inspirational Minute Message.

Mittens for Our House CHILDREN
This week is your last chance to bring in mittens, hats, gloves, and scarves for children through 5 years of age that attend Our House preschool in Decatur (for children facing homelessness). Deadline is October 29.

Dress Up Early
The children of MPC are invited to join in the fun at 9:45 a.m. this Sunday, October 31 by either coming dressed as someone from your favorite Bible story or choosing a costume once you arrive. (There are plenty of costumes here!) Meet in Room 001 for lots of merriment. RSVP to Melinda at msandkam@morningsidepc.org by Wednesday, October 27.

Church Directory Pictures
Don't miss a chance to get your picture taken for the directory. Sign up for an appointment on Sundays, November 7 or December 5 after worship in Room 201 by contacting the church office.

Thanksgiving Gathering plans underway
Volunteers are needed for the annual Thanksgiving Gathering. This event is a great outreach for our preschoolers and their parents and will be held on Monday, November 8, 5:30-6:45 p.m. Games, music and dinner will be featured. Sign up to volunteer on the bulletin board outside the church office or contact Doug Self at doug@jdouglasliving.com.

Habitat Interfaith Build
Hindus, Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Buddhists from all over the Metro Atlanta area are building every Sunday through November 21. An Interfaith worship service starts off each build day. Contact Lynsley Tyler (lynsley@bellsouth.net) if you are interested in this unique opportunity--space is limited.

Congregational Meeting Nov. 14 Immediately Following Worship
At this meeting we will elect a slate of six elders and a slate of four deacons. They will serve three-year terms and join those elders and deacons continuing their current terms. We also elect congregational representatives for the 2011 officer nominating committee. Please plan to attend this important meeting.

MPP
Morningside Presbyterian Preschool is currently selling logo t-shirts (sizes 3T, 4T, youth S, M and L, and adult sizes through XXL). T-shirts must be pre-paid and may be ordered by placing payment ($15) and order information in Sarah Tomaka's box in the church office. Please indicate size, quantity and contact information.

Did you know...
...that our preschool children will show off their Halloween costumes with a parade around the church grounds this Friday? They are the cutest goblins you've ever seen!
