THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of mercy and grace, you know the secrets of our hearts: how blind we
are to our own faults, yet harsh in judging others; how swift we are to take
for gain, yet slow to give for others; how proud we are of our successes yet
grudging in our praise of others. Remember, Lord, your tender care and love
unfailing. Do not remember our sin but remember us in your goodness and
mercy, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 466)
My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim, to spread through all
the earth abroad the honors of Thy name.

THE ANTHEM To God Be Joyful Mozart, arr. Hopson
To God be joyful, all hearts now be joyful! Alleluia. Know the Lord, that He is God. He
hath made us and we are His. We are His flock, He the shepherd. O enter forth with
thanksgiving, come with singing. Indeed, how good is the Lord. Alleluia.
THE SECOND LESSON Luke 19:1-10 (page 77 in the pew Bible)
THE SERMON “Crowded Out” Christopher Henry
He was trying to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not,
because he was short in stature. Luke 19:3
* THE HYMN 207 How Lovely, Lord
* THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy
Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified,
dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again
from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of
God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick
and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of
saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.
Amen.
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
