THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
"Sunday feels odd without church in the morning. It's the time in the week when we take our bearings, and if we miss it, we're just following our noses."
~Garrison Keillor
FROM THE COMMITMENT COMMITTEE
We continue to receive your pledges, and are grateful for your dedication to this congregation and your faith in its future. Please see attached an important message from Randy Parrish, who serves as treasurer for Morningside Presbyterian Church. His words rang true to many of us in worship yesterday, and we share them with you as a reminder of the importance of our generous giving.
IMPORTANT CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
The Session of Morningside Presbyterian Church has called for a Congregational Meeting to be held immediately following worship on November 28, 2010 for two purposes: The first is to dissolve the call of Rev. Christopher Henry at his request. His final Sunday at Morningside will be December 5, 2010. The second purpose of the meeting will be to act on the Pastor Nominating Committee's recommendation of a candidate for Pastor of Morningside Presbyterian Church, and to approve that candidate's terms of call. You will not want to miss this important and exciting meeting at Morningside!
Bible and Brunch- November 18
This Thursday, at 10 a.m., all are invited to gather in room 201 for a study of Ephesians 4:1-16, an appeal for unity in the church and a call to common mission. Childcare is provided in Room 105. After the study, we'll gather for brunch at a local restaurant. All are welcome!
CELEBRATING THE MINISTRY OF CHRIS HENRY
Please join us on Sunday, December 5 as we celebrate Chris Henry's ministry at Morningside with a pot-luck luncheon following Chris' farewell sermon in worship. Bring your favorite dish and a favorite story to share. We will pass the microphone around Fellowship Hall, so that all who wish to, may share a brief memory of Chris' ministry. If you would like to contribute to a church-wide gift for Chris, make your check payable to MPC with Chris Henry gift noted on the memo line.
THIS SUNDAY-NOVEMBER 21
DR. RODGER NISHIOKA PREACHING AT MPC
On Sunday, our congregation will be honored to welcome as guest preacher Dr. Rodger Nishioka, who holds the Benton Family chair in Christian education at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. Prior to his joining the faculty at Columbia, Rodger served for twelve years as denominational staff in youth & young adult ministry for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
