ADULT: What did Jesus mean by "this is my body" and "do this in remembrance of me"? Why do some Christians baptize infants and some do not? One man's attempts to answer these questions at the very real risk to his life lie at the heart of the Heidelberg Catechism and the Second Helvetic Confession. Learn more about this history and what these confessions say about our church today, including stewardship of creation and the Three "C's" of Presbyterianism. "I Confess! What We Say It Means to be Presbyterian" is a Morningside Bible Class discussion led by Jack and James Klotz this Sunday at 9:45 in Room 201.

CHILDREN: Preschool Children will learn about Jesus calling his twelve helpers in the story Follow Me! Younger Elementary classes will hear about John the Baptist's work to prepare people for Jesus. Double Digits will consider how to respond to John's message.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
"No possession is joyous without a companion."
~Thomas Acquinas

Our Sympathy To
Walter Huff and his family, on the death of his father Walter H. Huff. After a long struggle with Alzheimer's, Mr. Huff passed away Monday night while in hospice care. The funeral will be either Friday or Saturday at Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church, East Point, Georgia. Details to follow.

GUEST PREACHER THIS SUNDAY
We welcome the Rev. Dr. Bill Brown as our guest preacher Sunday morning. He is the Old Testament Professor at Columbia Theological Seminary. Bill received his Ph.D. at Emory University and is the author, most recently, of The Seven Pillars of Creation: The Bible, Science, and the Ecology of Wonder.

LAY LITURGIST
In keeping with the Presbyterian tenet of the priesthood of all believers, Morningside maintains a Lay Liturgy Team. Our lay reader this Sunday morning is Bill Humphries.

Pick a Pan Sunday
Take home an empty pan from the narthex this Sunday and return it by 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 11 filled with the requested item to help feed 45 men attending the Common Ground program at Atlanta AIDS Faith and Health.

Young Adults Serve at Night Shelter THIS SUNDAY
The MPC Young Adults are providing a meal for the 30 men of the Druid Hills Night Shelter this Sunday. We'll meet at Druid Hills at 6:30 p.m. to serve and enjoy a meal with the guests until 7:30 p.m. If you can help provide two remaining items that are needed, contact Lisa Harris (Lisa.S.Harris@gmail.com).

Overnight Volunteers NEEDED at SHEARITH ISRAEL Women's Shelter
The nine nights that MPC covers at Shearith Israel Shelter for women are fast approaching! We prefer to have two volunteers per night but since the resident manager is there also, one volunteer could do it. So, the priority is getting at least one person per night. Please take a look at the remaining open dates and compare them to your calendars:

Saturday, Jan. 8 – 1 more needed; Sunday, Jan. 9 – 2 needed (at least 1); Monday, Jan. 10 – 1 more needed; Wednesday, Jan. 12 – 1 more needed; Sunday, Jan. 16 - 2 needed (at least 1). Many thanks to all of you who have already signed up!
