3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

9:30 a.m. Coffee and Conversation

9:45 a.m. Church School for all ages
ADULT: What do Mary Queen of Scots, Elizabeth I, spot #23 in a parking lot in Edinburgh, the beheading of Charles I and Oliver Cromwell have in common? What makes a church a "true church" and why are we always talking about the "sovereignty of God"? Explore the answers to these questions with Jack & James Klotz and the Morningside Bible Class in I Confess! What We Say it Means to be Presbyterian, this Sunday at 9:45 in Room 201.

CHILDREN: Sunday in the story A Father's Wish, the Preschool Class will learn how Jesus helped a father whose child was very sick. Elementary Classes will study the Beatitudes. Younger classes will consider the language of the Jesus' teaching. Older elementary children and Double Digits will talk about what it means to be "blessed."

WE WELCOME MORNINGSIDE'S SENIOR PASTOR
"God is Greater than Our Hearts" and our hearts are great with excitement that the Rev. Dr. Baron Mullis will be "ours" this Sunday, January 23. As God's greatness comes full circle to the people of Morningside Presbyterian Church the journey will be complete. Plan to be present in worship to greet Dr. Mullis and show your gratitude for the work of God's spirit. There will also be a special fellowship hour following the service in celebration of Baron's arrival.

MPP
Morningside Preschool is offering early registration for the 2011-2012 school year began this Tuesday, January 18 for currently enrolled families and church members. You can access the necessary forms at http://www.morningsidepc.org/preschool/registration_procedure.html. Forms will also be available on the table next to the Preschool side entrance. Please submit your application no later than January 30 as open registration will begin Monday, January 31. ONE GRAY HAIR LUNCHEON
One Gray Hair will meet this Wednesday, January 19 at noon in Fellowship Hall to celebrate the birthday of Scottish poet, Robert Burns. Rev. Robert Gray will present the program on Burns' life and poetry. Dr. Mullis will be our special guest. RSVP to Sarah or Richard Brownlee at rsbrownlee1046@att.net or 404.876.3572.

COUPLES GROUP
We hope everyone can join us at Leslie and Lloyd Prince's on Friday, January 21 at 7 p.m. We'll have dinner and a fun activity related to the New Year. The address is 91 Lakeview Drive NE, Atlanta 30317. RSVP to the Bremers at kdbremer@bellsouth.net 404-872-3001.

Big Fun for Kids
Kindergarten-3rd graders are invited to Big Fun at MPC on Saturday, January 22, 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. 4th-7th graders are welcome as junior leaders. RSVP to Maggie Adams at magadams@gmail.com by this evening Tuesday, January 18.

Double Digits
Our 4th-7th graders will be preparing and serving the dinner for the men at Clifton this Saturday, Jan. 22. Contact Heather Bardole at hefbardole@gmail.com if you would like to help with their outing 4-7 p.m.

Pizza Anyone?
Everybody's at Emory on N. Decatur will be donating 20 percent of your lunch or dinner tab to Shearith Israel Shelter for Women on Monday, January 24. Be sure to bring the notices available on mission bulletin board or tell them that you are supporting the shelter. Spread the word with your friends and neighbors.

WOMEN'S ROUNDTABLE
The next Women's Roundtable will be held Monday, January 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Lynn Young (277 The Prado, 30309, 404.897.5202). The guest speaker will be our new Pastor, Dr. Mullis. We welcome the chance to meet and get to know him. RSVP to the church office, if you will be attending.
