FEBRUARY 6 ISN'T JUST THE SUPER BOWL
More than 20 years ago, Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single youth group: “Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us to be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat.” Since that day, more than $71 million has been raised for local charities across the country. The Double Digits of Morningside (4th-7th graders) invite everyone to bring $2 to give to the Souper Bowl offering on Sunday, February 6. MPC will give its offering to Atlanta Community Food Bank.
CONGREGATIONAL LUNCH
Break bread with our new pastor, Baron Mullis! Meet in Fellowship Hall for lunch following worship on Sunday, February 6. Donations accepted for lunch. RSVP to the church office today. Contact Brad Odom at jbradleyodom@gmail.com, if you are able to help with set up, serving or clean up. Suggested donation: adults $10, children $5.
MPC BEAUTIFICATION DAY: FEBRUARY 19
The Facilities Committee is hosting an MPC Beautification day on February 19 from 9 AM to 1 PM. Please come help us with various projects such as painting, landscaping, and other general maintenance items. All skill levels are welcome to help us with these projects. We are in need of 15-20 volunteers. Please sign up in the Narthex or by e-mailing Miguel Garcia at garcia.miguel@comcast.net.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
We will join our six-church team two months earlier than usual to build a Habitat for Humanity home for a deserving family here in Atlanta. Please check your February and March calendars and sign up to help a Saturday or two Feb. 26 through April 2. Contact Lynsley Tyler at Lynsley@bellsouth.net with any questions. We will provide lunch to the 50 volunteers on Saturday, March 5. If you can’t hammer nails, then sign up to provide a dish.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
Albert Einstein said that “only the church stood squarely across the path of Hitler’s campaign for suppressing the truth.” Learn about the brave souls who stood up to the might of the Nazi regime to defend the church. A few decades later, American Presbyterians found a new way to confess their faith in the face of the social turmoil of the 1960s. Find out about the controversies and even objections from the White House. What is the appropriate boundary between Church and State? What is the appropriate role of the church when it comes to societal issues? Join the discussion with the Morningside Bible Class and Jack & James Klotz in I Confess! What We Say it Means to be Presbyterian, next Sunday, January 30 at 9:45 in Room 201.
