FLOWERS IN THE SANCTUARY

The flowers in the sanctuary are given by Ruthlyn Newell to the glory of God and in thanks for the love and prayers of the people of Morningside.

CONGREGATIONAL LUNCH

Break bread with our new pastor, Baron Mullis!  Meet in Fellowship Hall for lunch following worship today. All are welcome. Suggested donation for lunch: adults $10, children $5.

FEBRUARY 6 ISN'T JUST THE SUPER BOWL

More than 20 years ago, Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single youth group: “Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us to be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat.”  Since that day, more than $71 million has been raised for local charities across the country.  The Double Digits of Morningside (4th-7th graders) invite everyone to give $2 to the Souper Bowl offering as you exit worship this morning.  MPC will give its offering to Atlanta Community Food Bank.

UNDERSTOOD AND OFTEN MISUNDERSTOOD!

The time to gain awareness of the Covenant Network and its ministry on inclusion and the work they are doing this year to support Amendment 10-A is tomorrow, February 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian (3003 Howell Mill Rd., Atl., 30327).  Pastors, Elders, Deacons, friends, and any interested persons are invited. A pizza dinner will be provided. If you will be attending, RSVP to Brad Odom at jbradleyodom@gmail.com. (Our new pastor Baron Mullis plans to be in attendance.)

PICK A PAN SUNDAY

Take home an empty pan from the narthex today and return it by 10 a.m. this Tuesday, February 8 filled with the requested item to help feed 45 men attending the Common Ground program at AIDS Alliance for Faith and Health.

The Public Policy and Advocacy Partnership of the Presbytery will host its annual day at the state capitol this Thursday, February 10. The day begins with a continental breakfast at Central Presbyterian at 9 a.m., followed by break-out sessions on immigration, health care, and the state budget from 9:30 to 10 a.m., then head across the street to the capitol to observe the General Assembly in session, visit a legislator's office, or attend a committee meeting. For more information or to register, contact Karen Turney of Central at kt2654@gmail.com.

COUPLES GROUP

The MPC Couples Group meets Friday, February 11 at 7pm at the home of Alan and Kathy Bremer.  The group gets together the second Friday of each month for informal socializing, fun, dinner and enrichment. All MPC couples and friends are invited!  Every month, one or more new couples are welcomed to the group. RSVP to Kathy Bremer, kdbremer@bellsouth.net
