YOUTH MISSION TRIP 2011

Today following worship and before the Double Digits head out for bowling, all children and parents of 5th grade and older kids are invited to attend an informational meeting in Room 201 to get all the details of MPC's youth mission trip for the summer. Come get everything you need to start planning for this adventure!

BREAD FOR THE JOURNEY

Please join us today following worship in the Fellowship Hall to prepare bagged lunches for the homeless men living at Clifton Sanctuary Ministries and Druid Hills Night Shelter. Shepherd Shirley Adair can answer questions.

BIBLE & BRUNCH HITS THE ROAD

On Thursday, February 17, Bible & Brunch welcomes all those interested in a guided tour of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Meet at MPC at 9:40 or the Cathedral at 10 a.m. Childcare will be provided at MPC from 9:30-11:45. There will then be the option to go out to lunch afterwards. Watch for details on other visits this spring on third Thursday mornings that will include The Mosque and The Temple. RSVP to the church office(office@morningsidepc.org) and indicate if you are willing to drive and how many people your car holds.

FUN FOR KIDS

Next Saturday evening, February 19, our new pastor Baron Mullis will be the special guest at a Father & Son Game Night at MPC from 6 to 8 p.m. for 2nd grade and older kids.  For more information or to RSVP, contact Greg Morton at jgmorton@bellsouth.net.  Girls, watch for a similar opportunity soon!

MPC BEAUTIFICATION DAY

The Facilities Committee is hosting a MPC Beautification day this Saturday, February 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Please come help us with various projects such as painting, landscaping, and other general maintenance items.  All skill levels are welcome to help us with these projects. We are in need of 15-20 volunteers.  Please sign up on the bulletin board in the Welcome Center or by e-mailing Miguel Garcia at garcia.miguel@comcast.net

RHO READERS

This co-ed group will meet to discuss Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God 12:45 p.m. in Session Room 103 next Sunday, February 20.  All are welcome.

WOMEN’S ROUNDTABLE

All women are welcome for dinner and a program on Monday, February 28, from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. at the home of Lynn Young (277 The Prado, 30309).  RSVP to the church office at office@morningsidepc.org.

HEARTS OF GOLD

We give thanks to God for all you do! Check out the new display across from the nursery that offers thanks to all the Morningside folks who give from the heart. For example, you gave enough $10 gift cards to the women at Shearith Israel Shelter to enable each of them to receive two gift cards. You gave to the Souper Bowl Offering (raising $323) to help those facing hunger in Atlanta. You also cook, build, donate and are friends to those in need! Every single one of you is appreciated every day at MPC. Happy Valentines’ Day!

PORGY AND BESS

MPC invites you to attend the Atlanta Opera’s production of Porgy and Bess as a group on Friday, March 4 at 8 p.m. The cost is $51.24 per ticket (Grand Tier, Center section, Row G).  Previous tickets at $34.41 have all been sold. E-mail Sarah Brownlee at rsbrownlee1046@att.net to hold a ticket and make checks out to MPC.

PANCAKES AND PAJAMA PARTY

All are invited to celebrate Shrove Tuesday at our annual MPC and Preschool Pancake Supper and Pajama Party on Tuesday, March 8, 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.  Enjoy dinner for the whole family while Ruby the Clown delights the children with his tricks and antics.  We will be collecting new pajamas, socks and underwear for Threads, a children’s clothing ministry of All-Saints Episcopal Church.  See sign-up outside Session Room or contact Jennifer James at jennjames@comcast.net to volunteer to set up, serve or clean up.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BUILD

MPC is looking for volunteers from February 26 through April 2 for the Spring Habitat build. Sign up on the bulletin board across from the Session Room (Rm 103) or contact Lynsley Tyler at Lynsley@bellsouth.net to volunteer a Saturday or to obtain more information. If you can’t hammer nails, then sign up to provide a dish on Saturday, March 5 when we will provide lunch to the 50 Habitat volunteers.
