PAJAMAS FOR THREADS

We have started our collection of new pajamas, socks and underwear for Threads, a children’s clothing ministry of All-Saints Episcopal Church.  Bring items to the baskets in the Welcome Center in the next few weeks or to the Shrove Tuesday dinner.

HUNGER WALK 2011

The Double Digits will participate in the Hunger Walk 2011 on March 13 following worship. This is a 5k walk/run to raise money for local area food banks including the Atlanta Community Food Bank and for the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta. Participants raise money to support their walk and to help members of their community. Last year, the Hunger Walk raised $500,000 to fight hunger in the greater Atlanta area. The walk starts at 2 p.m. at Turner Field and is over by 4 p.m. If you and/or your Double Digit is interested in participating this year or if you do not have a Double Digit but would like to join us, contact Heather Bardole at hefbardole@gmail.com to find out how to register.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BUILD

MPC is looking for volunteers from February 26 through April 2 for the Spring Habitat build. Sign up on the bulletin board across from the Session Room 103 or contact Lynsley Tyler at Lynsley@bellsouth.net to volunteer a Saturday or to obtain more information. If you can’t hammer nails, then sign up to provide a dish on Saturday, March 5 when we will provide lunch to the 50 Habitat volunteers.

CHURCH RETREAT IN OCTOBER

We are excited to announce the annual fall retreat to Montreat, North Carolina will be October 14-16 this year. We will once again return to the William Black Lodge and can’t wait to enjoy the fall colors along with the mountains and great fellowship. Mark your calendars now!

The youth at MPC (5th grade and older) are making plans for a June trip to the Global Village Experience at Heifer International in Perryville, Arkansas. For more information about the trip, contact Carolyn Morton at carolynmorton@bellsouth.net, and watch for details on fundraising. Let Carolyn know if you could help our youth with the fundraising this spring.

This past week, the Bible & Brunch crew visited the Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Throughout the spring, all are welcome to join in our field trips on the third Thursdays of the month. Mark your calendars now for a visit to the Al-Farooq Masjid Mosque on 14th Street on March 17, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. April 21, we will be visiting The Temple on Peachtree Street and final plans are underway for our May 19 excursion. Childcare is provided at MPC from 9:30 to 11:45. Anyone who would like to go to lunch afterwards is welcome. RSVP to the church office.
