THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
"I remember several years ago a freshman asking if he could give me some advice. "Go ahead," I said. "Well, Sir, when you say something that is both true and painful, say it softly." Say it in other words to heal and not to hurt. Say it in love." - from Credo by William Sloane Coffin

A NOTE FROM WALTER HUFF
Dear MPC congregation,
I wanted to share some news with you- in regards to an exciting opportunity that has come my way. Last September, I was approached by San Diego Opera to be their Chorus Master for two productions in the spring of 2011 ( which is almost here!) This would be the same type of work and preparation that I do for Atlanta Opera - the San Diego productions being FAUST and DER ROSENKAVALIER. I accepted this 7-week opportunity in September, with the support of Atlanta Opera and Morningside.

I will certainly miss you all ( between March 7 and April 25 ). This period of time is similar to, when in 2008, I was in Europe with PORGY AND BESS. I have assured the choir and I assure you, that Morningside will be in good hands with qualified subs, leading your music and worship. ( I have already chosen the choir's music through the end of April ! ) I will definitely miss you, but will be in contact with Baron and all staff regularly during this period. Thank you for your endearing support of the MPC music program-and of this exciting endeavor.

PARENT WORKSHOP
Everyone is invited to Room 107 at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, February 25 for Coffee Chatter. Speech Language Pathologist Katy Stout and Occupational Therapist Jamie Lesser are offering a workshop that will include discussing typical motor, sensory, speech and language development, and the warning signs of when to seek professional intervention and ways to stimulate your child's skills in everyday activities.

WOMEN'S ROUNDTABLE
All women are welcome for dinner, conversation and an exciting program on Monday, February 28, from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. at the home of Lynn Young (277 The Prado, 30309). Stephanie Mains will be our guest speaker. Stephanie is a Senior Executive at GE Energy where she travels extensively both at home and abroad. She will share with us her unique experience of traveling throughout the Middle East as a woman in a position of authority. RSVP to the church office at office@morningsidepc.org.

THEOLOGY ON TAP
Men of Morningside are invited to attend the Theology on Tap gathering at the home of Richard Brownlee (1046 Bellevue Drive NE) for dinner and conversation on Tuesday, March 1 at 7 p.m. Baron will lead a discussion about a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, "Where Have All the Presbyterians Gone?" Copies will be shared, and we will read and discuss. Come for good food and good conversation! RSVP to the church office at office@morningsidepc.org.

PAJAMAS FOR THREADS
We continue our collection of new pajamas, socks and underwear for Threads, a children's clothing ministry of All-Saints Episcopal Church. Please bring your items to the baskets in the Welcome Center.

DEVOTIONAL BOOKLETS ARE HERE
Copies of the daily devotional booklet, Our Daily Bread, for the months of March through May are available on the tables in the Narthex and the Welcome Center. You are encouraged to take one as you leave the sanctuary on Sunday mornings. The daily readings will brighten your day as we prepare for the Lenten season.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BUILD
MPC is looking for volunteers through April 2 for the Spring Habitat build. Sign up on the bulletin board across from the Session Room 103 or contact Lynsley Tyler at Lynsley@bellsouth.net to volunteer a Saturday or to obtain more information. If you can't hammer nails, then sign up to provide a dish on Saturday, March 5 when we will provide lunch to the 50 Habitat volunteers.
