WOMEN’S ROUNDTABLE
The women of Morningside are welcome for dinner, conversation and an exciting program tomorrow, February 28, from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. at the home of Lynn Young (277 The Prado). Stephanie Mains will be our guest speaker. Stephanie is a Senior Executive at GE Energy where she travels extensively both at home and abroad. She will share with us her unique experience of traveling throughout the Middle East as a woman in a position of authority. RSVP to the church office at office@morningsidepc.org.
THEOLOGY ON TAP
Men of Morningside are invited to attend the Theology on Tap gathering at the home of Richard Brownlee (1046 Bellevue Drive NE) for dinner and conversation on Tuesday, March 1 at 7 p.m. Baron will lead a discussion about a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, "Where Have All the Presbyterians Gone?" Copies will be shared, and we will read and discuss. Come for good food and good conversation! RSVP to the church office at office@morningsidepc.org.
CALL FOR MEMBERS OF THE 2011 RETREAT COMMITTEE
Since the dates for the 2011 Morningside retreat have moved up from November to October 14-16, we want to get started with our planning. Getting a good speaker is a high priority, and they get booked up quickly. The first meeting of the Retreat Committee will be Sunday, March 6. If you are interested in serving on the committee, please join us at 12:45 p.m. in Baron's office. For more information, please contact Mary Chapman at mvchapman@bellsouth.net.
CHILDREN’S CHOIR PRACTICES
Both the Cherub and Treble Choirs begin regular practices again this Wednesday, March 2 at 6 and 6:30 p.m. As we continue the search for our next Children’s Choir Director, we will welcome a number of Special Guest Directors. The choirs will sing in worship on Sunday, May 15 followed by an end of year picnic after worship.
PANCAKES AND PAJAMA PARTY
All are invited to celebrate Shrove Tuesday at our annual MPC and Preschool Pancake Supper and Pajama Party on Tuesday, March 8, from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Kids are invited to wear their favorite PJs. Enjoy dinner for the whole family while Ruby the Clown delights the children with his tricks and antics. See the sign-up sheet outside the Session Room or contact Jennifer James at jennjames@comcast.net to volunteer to set up, serve or clean up.
ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE
Please plan to join us for our Ash Wednesday Service, March 9 at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. This solemn and sacred worship service marks the beginning of the season of Lent and includes the imposition of ashes. Childcare will be provided in Room 105.
PAJAMAS FOR THREADS
We continue our collection of new pajamas, socks and underwear for Threads, a children’s clothing ministry of All-Saints Episcopal Church. Bring items to the baskets in the Welcome Center in the next few weeks or to the Shrove Tuesday dinner.
HUNGER WALK 2011
The Double Digits will participate in the Hunger Walk 2011 on March 13 following worship. This is a 5k walk/run to raise money for local area food banks. Morningside is registered under Atlanta Community Food Bank with a designation to Intown Collaborative Ministries. The walk starts at 2 p.m. at Turner Field and is over by 4 p.m. If you and/or your Double Digit is interested in participating this year or if you do not have a Double Digit but would like to join us, contact Heather Bardole at hefbardole@gmail.com to find out how to register. Find an MPC Double Digit (4th-7th grade) to support the walk.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BUILD
MPC is looking for volunteers through April 2 for the Spring Habitat build. Sign up on the bulletin board across from the Session Room 103 or contact Lynsley Tyler at Lynsley@bellsouth.net to volunteer a Saturday or to obtain more information. If you can’t hammer nails, then sign up to provide a dish next Saturday, March 5 when we will provide lunch to the 50 Habitat volunteers.
YOUTH MISSION TRIP 2011
The youth at MPC (5th grade and older) are making plans for a June trip to the Global Village Experience at Heifer International in Perryville, Arkansas. For more information about the trip, contact Carolyn Morton at carolynmorton@bellsouth.net, and watch for details on fundraising. Let Carolyn know if you could help our youth with the fundraising this spring.
BIBLE & BRUNCH FIELD TRIPS
Throughout the spring, all are welcome to join the Bible & Brunch crew in our field trips on the third Thursdays of the month. Mark your calendars now for a visit to the Al-Farooq Masjid Mosque on 14th Street on March 17, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. April 21, we will be visiting The Temple on Peachtree Street and final plans are underway for our May 19 excursion. Childcare is provided at MPC from 9:30 to 11:45. Anyone who would like to go to lunch afterwards is welcome. RSVP to the church office.

Join the Morningside Bible Class for this speaker series focusing on God's Creation and ways we can respond to the call to greater environmental stewardship. Our series concludes next Sunday, March 6 with Dr. Bill Brown, professor of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary, presenting “Earth’s Story in the Old Testament.” This class meets each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in Room 201.
Children’s Classes
Today, the Preschool Class will learn about a man who was thankful that Jesus healed him in the story Thank You Jesus! Elementary classes will read the parable about wise and foolish builders and talk about concrete ways they can show God’s love.
