THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Eternally gracious God, we confess that we are sinners. Whether through our
actions or our inaction, the good news you have entrusted to us has not cracked
our hearts nor escaped our lips. We question how you can love us and love others.
Calamities make us question you rather than ourselves. Our trust is limited.
We are not sure you can be trusted. And yet, we have heard rumors of
what you can do. We long to be shown again. We need to be cleansed of our
unbelief, forgiven our sins, and sent on our way flush with your goodness. We
pray this trusting in your mercy and for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation. The old has passed away; the
new has come.
People: All this is from God, who reconciled himself to us through Christ
and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.
Leader: That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting
their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us.
Believe the Promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! - 2 Corinthians 5:17-19

the earth abroad the honors of Thy name.

THE CONCERNS OF THE CHURCH
(Visitors and members are invited to sign the blue friendship register pad and pass it down the pew.)
THE FIRST LESSON Isaiah 49:8-16a (page 638 in the pew Bible, OT)
THE ANTHEM O Come, Let Us Sing to the Lord Louis Harris
O come let us sing to the Lord! Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us
come before His presence with thanksgiving and make a joyful noise with the psalms. For the
Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods. In His hands are the deep places of the earth,
the strength of the hills is also His, the sea is His and He made it, and His hands formed the dry
land. O come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord, our God.
THE SECOND LESSON Matthew 6:24-34 (page 6 in the pew Bible, NT)
THE SERMON “Enough for Today” Baron Mullis
* THE HYMN 171 The King of Love My Shepherd Is (verses 1-6)
* THE AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
Give us this day our daily bread. That is: be pleased to provide for all our
bodily needs so that thereby we may acknowledge that thou art the only
source of all that is good, and that without thy blessing neither our care and labor
nor thy gifts can do us any good. Therefore, may we withdraw our trust
from all creatures and place it in thee alone.
- from The Heidelberg Cathechism
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive
us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.
THE OFFERTORY Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing arr. John Innes
