Since the dates for the 2011 Morningside retreat have moved up from November to October 14-16, we want to get started with our planning. Getting a good speaker is a high priority, and they get booked up quickly. The first meeting of the Retreat Committee will be today. PICK A PAN SUNDAY
Take home an empty pan from the narthex today and return it by 10 a.m. this Tuesday, March 8 filled with the requested item to help feed 45 men attending the Common Ground program at AIDS Alliance for Faith and Health.
PANCAKES AND PAJAMA PARTY
All are invited to celebrate Shrove Tuesday at our annual MPC and Preschool Pancake Supper and Pajama Party this Tuesday, March 8, from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Kids are invited to wear their favorite PJs. Enjoy dinner for the whole family while Ruby the Clown delights the children with his tricks and antics.
PAJAMAS FOR THREADS
Our collection of new pajamas, socks and underwear for Threads, a children’s clothing ministry of All-Saints Episcopal Church continues. Please place your donated items in the Welcome Center baskets or bring them to the Shrove Tuesday dinner.
ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE
Please plan to join us for our Ash Wednesday Service, March 9 at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. This solemn and sacred worship service marks the beginning of the season of Lent and includes the imposition of ashes. Childcare will be provided in Room 105.

COFFEE & DESSERT WITH BARON
In the month of March, every MPC member will be invited to a gathering with our new pastor. Most of them are 7:30-8:30 in evening, except for this upcoming Saturday, March 12, 3-4 p.m. in Decatur. Though you will be invited to a location relatively close to where you live, you are welcome to attend a different one if it is a better time. MOTHER/DAUGHTER BEADWORK EVENING
Next Saturday, March 12 moms, mother-figures, and misses (2nd grade and older) will enjoy beadwork and mosaic-making, pizza and an intro to Calvin Center’s horse camp from 6 to 8 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. HUNGER WALK 2011
MPC Double Digits will participate in this year’s Hunger Walk next Sunday, March 13. This 5k walk/run will raise money for local area food banks. Morningside’s designation is Intown Collaborative Ministries. The walk begins at 2 p.m. at Turner Field. For more information, contact Heather Bardole at hefbardole@gmail.com.
HELP FEED MEN AT DRUID HILLS NIGHT SHELTER

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT MORNINGSIDE
Adult Sunday School Classes
Join the Morningside Bible Class for a six-week series focusing on Christianity and the Arts, beginning next Sunday, March 13. We will discuss the intersection between faith and artistic expression by exploring different art genres. Starting with Morningside member, Sarah Tomaka, the emphasis will be on a historic survey of religious painting, sculpture and stained glass. The following weeks will include discussions on film, theatre, architecture, fiction and other artistic endeavors. This class meets each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in Room 201.
Children’s Classes
Today, Preschool children will hear A Wonderful Sight, a story about Jesus and a blind man. Elementary classes will study The Transfiguration, with an emphasis on learning more about Moses and Elijah. Double Digits will be in worship.
