THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
"Compassion is sometimes the fatal capacity for feeling what it is like to live inside somebody else's skin. It is the knowledge that there can never really be any peace and joy for me until there is peace and joy finally for you too." - Frederick Buechner
HOLY WEEK WORSHIP AND EVENTS
HOLY WEEK BANNERS
Banner #1 is entitled Grace of the Earth. The greens and batik prints of foliage represent the path with branches and palm leaves laid to honor Jesus as he entered Jerusalem. The batiks show the clouding of the sun in the sky with the gray-green shading. The fabrics move from light to dark representing the impending crucifixion.
Banner #2 is entitled God's Power in Our Midst and represents the night of Jesus' arrest and the crucifixion. The rust and gold batiks represent the blood moon with the brown, gold and dark batiks representing the storm and agony of the event. Again, the fabrics move from light to dark representing the power of Christ's life, death and resurrection.

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING
On Easter Sunday, join with Presbyterians around the world by contributing to One Great Hour of Sharing. The theme for OGHS 2011 is "Sharing Brings Joy." See Sunday's bulletin insert which details how Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, which is funded by OGHS, is providing much needed support in Haiti. PDA has also been more recently called to action in Japan. Mark your check's memo line with OGHS this Easter Sunday so that these vital programs at home and abroad have the resources they need.
