FLOWERS THIS SUNDAY
The flowers in the sanctuary are given by Dale Glendening in honor of Robert Gray on the anniversary of Robert’s 58 years of ministry in the Presbyterian Church. Robert was ordained May 15, 1953 at First Presbyterian Church and thereafter served in the following Presbyterian Churches: Mullins, Black Mountain, Park Lake, Highland, Winter Park, and Covenant. He currently serves MPC as Assistant to the Minister.
BAPTISM THIS SUNDAY
Madelyn Millard, daughter of Amy and Brad Millard will receive the sacrament of baptism this morning.
END OF YEAR FOR CHILDREN'S CHOIRS
Both the Cherub and Treble choirs will be singing in worship this morning, and then they will enjoy an end of year picnic after worship.
BIBLE & BRUNCH
Our final field trip this spring will be this Thursday, May 19 to visit the Hindu Temple in Riverdale. Meet for 9:30 a.m. departure from MPC, returning by 11:30. Childcare provided at MPC. RSVP to church office.
LGBT & FRIENDS GET TOGETHER

TORNADO RESPONSE
- As needs are being assessed in the tornado ravaged southeast, MPC continues researching details for a trip in the near future to help with recovery.
- MPC is also working with the grassroots organization ‘Toomers for Tuscaloosa’ and is a donation site on Wednesdays in May, 11:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. for much needed items for those whose lives were devastated by the tornados.
- MPC member Heather Regnault is leading efforts to collect donations of needed items. Volunteer for a two-hour shift on a Wednesday to receive them. Contact Heather hpregnault @yahoo.com to let her know if you can help.
YOUNG ADULTS MEET FOR SERVICE AND SOCIALIZING
The Young Adults are invited to help provide and serve a meal for the guests at Clifton Sanctuary (369 Connecticut Ave., Candler Park) on Saturday, May 28. If you're in town and would like to help (or if you’d like to drop something off before you go), we need a few people to contribute toward pizzas and provide salad and dessert for 30. We’ll meet at Clifton to start prepping and serving at 5:30 pm and we’ll likely be finished around 7 pm, so we can plan to go out to dinner nearby afterward. Register now for Camp Morningside, Summer 2011. MPP’s summer camp is open to children ages 2 to 5. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and camp begins June 6 and runs through August 5 with a break for Vacation Bible School, June 20-24. ‘It’s Not All About Me’ returns July 25-29 with favorite outings to learn about children and seniors in need, those facing hunger and homelessness, and how we can help animals and our environment. Register your (completed) 2nd-6th grader for a week of learning and fun. Forms are on our website (registration deadline is June 5). Volunteers are needed. CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT MORNINGSIDE
Adult Sunday School Classes—Did I hear that right?
What makes a good sermon? A great sermon? What makes a good preacher? A great preacher? We all know good preaching when we hear it, but what makes it good? Lead by our own Baron Mullis, for the five Sundays in May, the Adult Bible Study Class will look at the form a sermon might take and what its function might be by looking at and listening to examples by five luminary 20th Century preachers. The Bible Class will meets each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in Room 201 and all are welcome.
Children’s Classes
Preschool children will hear the story A New Friend and learn what happened that made Paul a strong spokesman for Jesus. The Elementary Classes and Double Digits will read Philippians 4:4-7 and explore how Christians might find ways to rejoice when things are going against them.
