GUEST PREACHER

We welcome Bart Smith to Morningside's pulpit this Sunday.  Bart is a member of Morningside and a student at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.  In his ordination process, Bart is under care of the Session of Morningside.  We look forward to Bart's leadership in worship!

CONGREGATIONAL LUNCH

All are welcome at lunch today in Fellowship Hall.

SUPPORT YOUTH TODAY

We wish to thank everyone who donated items for the auction to support our youth in their trip to the Heifer Global Challenge, June 8-11. Be sure to pick up a Silent Auction Booklet to bid on all the exciting items including vacation homes, and Braves and Symphony tickets found in the front of Fellowship Hall. The auction will close at the congregational lunch today. Don’t miss this opportunity!

HARMONY YOUTH CHORUS TODAY

The congregation, staff and friends of Morningside are invited to a free concert of international music presented by HARMONY: Atlanta's International Youth Chorus this evening at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary.  HARMONY is comprised of 80 singers, 6 to 18 years old, who represent the cultural diversity of our world.  This concert also features outstanding alumni who return for this concert to join in the celebration of singing with choral movement, sign language and accompaniment with piano, percussion and instruments.

FACILITIES COMMITTEE

The Facilities Committee is working on a Medical Emergency Policy. If you are CPR certified and willing to respond to a medical emergency while at church, please email John Watson at atwatson@mindspring.com. If you need further AED training, please indicate that. Your response by June 6 will help us make decisions about medical emergency training needs for the church.

ONE GRAY HAIR LUNCHEON

One Gray Hair will meet this Wednesday, May 25, at noon in Fellowship Hall. Betsy and Jim Armstrong will present a fascinating program on their trip to Patagonia and the Antarctic. RSVP to Richard and Sarah Brownlee rsbrownlee1046@att.net. Hope to see you there!

YOUNG ADULTS MEET FOR SERVICE AND SOCIALIZING

The Young Adults are invited to help provide and serve a meal for the guests at Clifton Sanctuary (369 Connecticut Ave., Candler Park) next Saturday, May 28. If you're in town and would like to help, we need a few people to contribute toward pizzas and provide salad and dessert for 30. We’ll meet at Clifton to prep and serve the food at 5:30 p.m. and we’ll likely be finished around 7 p.m. We can plan to go to dinner nearby afterward. Contact Lisa Harris (770.856.2714 or Lisa.S.Harris@gmail.com) if you’d like to join us.

TIME & TALENT FAIR

Wondering how to volunteer for MPC activities? After worship on June 5, learn about the numerous outreach endeavors and church programs at Morningside. Chairs and leaders of many different committees will be available to discuss what our church is doing and how you can help. ALL members are encouraged to fill out  a new Time & Talent form so we have a current record of your interests and abilities.

SPECIAL SUMMER CONCERT AT MPC

All are invited to The Atlanta Opera High School Institute Spring Concert at Morningside on Sunday, June 5, at 4 p.m. (free admission). This concert will culminate the 2010-2011 High School educational program, and will feature 11 select young singers from public and private schools throughout the area, performing highlights from the operatic repertoire. Walter Huff is music director of the program and will accompany the singers.

DAILY DEVOTIONALS

The Evangelism Committee is providing copies of  Our Daily Bread for the months of June thru August for members and visitors. This free devotional booklet may be picked up in the narthex or the welcome center after worship this morning.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT MORNINGSIDE

Adult Sunday School Classes—Did I hear that right?

What makes a good sermon? A great sermon? What makes a good preacher? A great preacher? We all know good preaching when we hear it, but what makes it good?  Lead by our own Baron Mullis, for the five Sundays in May, the Adult Bible Study Class will look at the form a sermon might take and what its function might be by looking at and listening to examples by five luminary 20th Century preachers. The Bible Class will meets each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in Room 201 and all are welcome.

Children’s Classes

The Preschool Class will listen to Over the Wall, the story of Paul’s escape in a basket and have fun lowering their own Paul in a basket. Elementary classes and Double Digits will read 1 Corinthians 12 to learn how each of them is a gift to the community of the church that is the Body of Christ.
