Baron Mullis preaching; Congregation Hymn Sing

"Singing for Those Who Can't"

Text: Psalm 150

 _______________________________________________________________________

Welcome to worship at Morningside Presbyterian
Church. Please complete the information
in the Friendship Pad at the end of the pews
and pass the pads down and back again during
the Concerns portion of worship. Worship
notebooks and books for children are located
on the kiosk outside the sanctuary. Nursery for
infants is in Room 105; toddlers 18 months
through 2 years are in Room 012. Children
ages 3-11 are invited to leave after the Peace
of Christ for special classes. Threes, fours &
fives are in Room 011; K - 2nd grade in Room
001; 3rd-7th graders are in worship today.

HOT DOG LUNCH - TODAY
The Youth of Morningside have
returned from their Heifer
Global Experience and have
many a story to tell. All are welcome
at the hot dog lunch in Fellowship
Hall today after worship
to see pictures and hear stories about their adventure!
As part of the celebration, Pierre
Ferrari, Chief Executive Officer of Heifer International
is with us at Morningside and will
provide brief remarks.

DATES SET TO RETURN TO HAITI
MPC will take a second pilgrimage to Haiti
October 1-7. A $100 non-refundable deposit
for an airline ticket is due June 28. Contact
Brad Odom 404.386.3478 jbradleyodom
@gmail.com or Tim Gargis 404.379.4107
tgargis@gmail.com with questions.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Many thanks to all who supported VBS
through donations of items and time! A special
thank you to the volunteers that joined us
all week long leading groups of kids, doing
music and providing leadership. We are also
grateful to Calvin Center for leading the program
for older kids two days. It was like going
away to camp, but you didn’t have to travel
far! Special thanks also go to the Readers’
Theater performers, “construction” crew
(including Gus), the Children’s Education
team leaders and Children Programs Co-
Chairs. We welcomed 19 new kids to VBS
this year bringing our total to 55 kids who enjoyed
“Adventures through the Wardrobe”.

DRUID HILLS NIGHT
SHELTER
Druid Hills Night Shelter
stands proud as it sees its residents
move out of the shelter
to their own living quarters;
however, they often cross their new threshold
with very little to set up “Home Sweet Home.”
The MPC community has done a great job
sharing items from their attics, basements and
storage rooms. Remaining needs can be found
on the mission bulletin board and MPC’s Facebook
page or by contacting Curt Barrett at
404.310.4665 or emailcurt@mindspring.com.

SAVE THE DATE FOR MONTREAT
Save the dates October 14-16! Our church
retreat has moved to a prime fall foliage
date. Mark your calendars now and plan to
join us for this year’s retreat in the North Carolina
mountains. Registration forms are available
in the Welcome Center and online. Reserve
your spot now! The retreat is a wonderful
place to get to know others in our growing
community.

VOLUNTEER AT FOOD PANTRY
Sign up today to sort food at the Intown Collaborative
Ministries food pantry on Saturday,
July 9. Contact Nancy Collins with any questions
ncollins0209@gmail.com.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL
Help more than 200 local school kids by helping
out at the Back-2-School backpack-filling
party, hosted by the Georgia Justice Project
for the children of its clients. MPC will send
five volunteers to help set up and work the
event 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16
near Turner Field. This is a great way to help
at-risk youth get a good start for the new
school year. To sign up, contact Bill Means,
billmeans@bellsouth.net, 404.234.9718.

WELCOME HOME BASKETS
We once again will collect items to create Welcome
Home baskets for the men moving on
from Clifton Sanctuary Ministries. See the display
in the Welcome Center and bring your
items in by July 17. Contact Shepherd Tony
Fishpaw 404.597.5485 tonyfishpaw@me.com.

THEATER OUTING
Contact Melinda Sandkam to reserve your
group ticket to see ‘The Tempest’ at Georgia
Shakespeare on Sunday, July 17 at 7 p.m.

MISSION CAMP NEEDS YOU
We have 21 kids registered for our third Mission
Camp July 25-29. Now, we need to secure
enough chaperones/drivers. This is a very
important aspect of Mission Camp, as most of
our week is spent visiting outreach programs.
Contact Melinda Sandkam today to sign up for
a morning, afternoon or whole day, or see
needs on the bulletin board outside of Session
Room 103.

CONDOLENCES TO
Chris Henry and Sara Hayden on the death
of Chris’ grandfather.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT MORNINGSIDE
Adult Sunday School Classes—THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 26
Go to any bookstore for a Bible, and you’ll be overwhelmed by the variety of translations. KJV,
NIV, TEB, NLT, RSV, NASB, NRSV, ETC. Why are there so many different English translations?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of them? Is there an “original Bible” we can rely on? Explore
the answers to these questions and more with the Morningside Bible Class and Jack and James Klotz
in “Lost (and Found) in Translation,” Sundays in June at 9:45 a.m. in Room 201.
Children’s Classes
The Preschool Class will hear the story A Girl Named Rebekah and learn how God answered Abraham’s
prayer. K-2 children will learn of Deborah’s leadership in the lesson “Twists and Turns at
