* THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 288 I Sing the Mighty Power of God
THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Eternal God, you are from everlasting to everlasting. You, the creator of heaven
and earth extend from the furthest reaches of the universe to the depths of Sheol.
Yet in our finitude, we forget from whom our blessings flow. We blur the lines between
creator and creation and think that we are the authors of our own blessings.
But you alone are eternal, you alone are the source of all life and all good. We are
chastened and we ask forgiveness. Return us to your marvelous image, remind us
that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and call forth from us the commitment
you would have us bring, through Jesus the Christ we pray, Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ
is, seated at the right hand of God.
People: Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on
earth, for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Leader: When Christ, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him
in glory. Believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
- Colossians 3:1-4
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 341)
This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long;

THE HYMN SING
During worship today, we will join in a 15-20 minute hymn sing. We will sing selected verses
from hymns that you choose-either from the Presbyterian Hymnal or from the choices listed in
the bulletin insert. This process assures that our organist can have the music readily available and
that the congregation has access to the words. An index of titles can be found in the back of your
pew hymnal. Have your hymn number/title ready and raise your hand!
* THE HYMN 485 To God Be the Glory
* THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus
Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the
Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he
descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into
heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he
shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy
catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection
of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive
us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.
THE OFFERTORY Offertory on “Salvationist” Hays/Birchwood
* THE DOXOLOGY AND PRAYER OF DEDICATION (Hymn 592)
* THE HYMN 264 When in Our Music God Is Glorified
* THE CHARGE AND BENEDICTION
* THE CHORAL RESPONSE Psalm 150 (excerpt) César Franck
Praise ye Him with the sound of the timbrel. Praise ye Him with the psaltery and harp. O praise ye
the Lord. Hallelujah!
