THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
When the principles that run against your deepest convictions begin to win the day, then the battle is your calling, and peace has become sin. You must at the price of dearest peace lay your convictions bare before friend and enemy with all the fire of your faith. - Abraham Kuyper

YOUTH GROUP
This Saturday, August 27, the youth are off to White Water. Please help make youth programming a success with your support. Contact Shannon Lazzaro lazzaroshannon@yahoo.com, if you could provide dinner one Sunday this fall for youth group, and contact Youth Committee Chair Carolyn Morton carolynmorton@bellsouth.net if you can help in other areas.

VOLUNTEER TRAINING
If you volunteer with one of the elementary age children’s worships on Sunday mornings, plan to attend the 30-minute orientation this Sunday, August 28 at 10 a.m. in Room 003.  Contact Jill Davis jsamail@yahoo.com with questions.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR SEPTEMBER 18!
MPC continues to celebrate! On Sunday, September 18, Rev. Joanna Adams will be recognized as Pastor Emerita, a position of honor, appreciation and distinction for her sustaining leadership at Morningside. MPC voted to extend this honor to Joanna on August 14.  Please join us in Fellowship Hall after worship for a reception which will be held in her honor.

SYMPATHY
As a family of faith we bear one another's burdens.  We grieve this week with Bonnie and George Daneker on the death of Bonnie's mother, Ann Bajorek last week.  We will keep George and Bonnie and their family in our prayers during this time of mourning.
