BAPTISM THIS SUNDAY
Anna Elizabeth Bradway, daughter of Ali and Jon Bradway will receive the sacrament of baptism this morning.
LAY LITURGIST
In keeping with the Presbyterian tenet of the priesthood of all believers, MPC maintains a Lay Liturgy Team. Our lay reader today is Jack Klotz.
SUPPORT YOUTH GROUP
This afternoon our youth are off to a Corn Maze. Next Sunday, November 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. parents are invited to join their youth for an evening led by Chris Peters.
ALL SAINTS’ DAY
All Saints' Day is an observance of the church on the first day of November. Congregations observe it together on the first Sunday of November. It is an opportunity to give thanks to God for the lives of those departed from among us whom we have loved. During the Great Prayer of Thanksgiving in the communion liturgy, thanks will be given for members of Morningside and loved ones and friends close to us who have entered the Church Triumphant in the past year. Contact the church office (office@morningsidepc.org) with the names of your loved ones who have died in the past year in order that we may offer their names in our prayer of thanksgiving.
THEOLOGY ON TAP
Theology on Tap’s next gathering will be hosted by Philip Hawkins at the home of Robert Hicks (2332 Bry Mar Drive, 30345) this Tuesday, November 1 at 7 p.m. The night’s program, led by Baron Mullis, will be “If forgiveness is necessary, why does it have to be so hard?” RSVP to the church office at office@morningsidepc.org.
CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
A congregational meeting will be held next Sunday, November 6, immediately following worship for the election of a slate of Elders; a slate of Deacons; and the congregational representatives for the 2012 Officer Nominating Committee.
CONGREGATIONAL LUNCH
Lunch will be served after worship next Sunday, November 6 in Fellowship Hall. Contact the church office office@morningsidepc.org to make your lunch reservations. Contact Brad Odom jbradleyodom@gmail.com if you can help set up, serve and/or clean up for the lunch.
NEW BIBLE SERIES BEGINS
Join us in discussing Jesus' ministry on earth as written by Mark in his sixteen-chapter gospel message to the Gentiles in Rome. This six-week Sunday morning series begins at 9:45 a.m. on November 6 in Room 107. If interested, contact Link Marx at fmarx25@yahoo.com.
BEAUTIFICATION DAY
MPC’s Fall Beautification Day will be Saturday, November 12 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Projects include "spiffing up" the interior entrances of the church, improvements in the memory garden and the ravine bridge, and landscape plantings. There is a sign-up board in the Welcome Center, so sign up early and don't be the last to get in on the fun!
CHILDREN'S CHOIRS SING
Led by Children’s Choir director Rebecca Shipley, the Treble Choir opened worship last Sunday and the Cherub Choir will do so next week, November 6. We also look forward to hearing the Cherub Choir at The Thanksgiving Gathering on Monday, November 14.
MPP BOOK FAIR
Our Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon and will transform the Church Parlor into our very own book store from Monday, November 7 through Friday, November 11 (closed November 8 for Election Day). Shopping at the MPP book fair is an opportunity to buy fantastic books at low prices while raising money for the preschool! Be sure to visit and get some of your holiday shopping finished early!
RESPONSE SUNDAY IS COMING UP!
On Sunday, November 13, we will celebrate our commitment to follow Jesus Christ here at Morningside by offering pledges of our time, talent and treasure for the coming year. Walter Huff has planned some fun music to help us celebrate during the fellowship hour. Please take some time to review the brochure the Commitment team is sending you and to give serious prayer and thought to what your commitment will be in 2012.
MPC YOU-TUBE VIDEO
Morningside has been blessed by a wonderful video filmed and edited by Bob Wells to highlight our "Visions and Dreams 2012" campaign. Visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-CcrMMmowM or go to www.morningsidepc.org and spend a few minutes watching the video. You'll be excited about all that is going on at Morningside!
THANKSGIVING PLANS UNDERWAY
Volunteers are needed for the annual Thanksgiving Gathering, Monday, November 14, 5:30 – 6:45 p.m. This event is our way of giving thanks for the Preschool Community. Games, crafts, music and dinner are featured. Contact Jennifer James to volunteer at jennjames@comcast.net.
MUSICAL OUTING
On Tuesday, December 13, All Saints Episcopal is hosting their annual program of sacred and popular favorites presented by soloists from The Atlanta Opera Chorus. Directed by our own Walter Huff, this concert traditionally sells out. If you would like to attend, go to www.allsaintsatlanta.org to purchase tickets now! Once you have purchased tickets, email the church office@morningsidepc.org to let us know you are coming. We plan to meet for dinner and carpool to the 7:30 p.m. performance.
CHRISTMAS PAGEANT

If anyone is willing to sew a costume, build a prop or help on the weekend of the event itself, contact Melinda Sandkam msandkam@morningsidepc.org.
WELCOME NEW MEMBERS
Last Sunday, we welcomed the following new members:
Jon and Ali Bradway—Jon is a media industry consultant, and Ali works in human resources at Invesco. Their young daughter Anna will be baptized this Sunday.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT MORNINGSIDE
Adult Sunday School Classes
The books of Luke and Acts in the Bible actually are considered as one literary unit. How do scholars arrive at this conclusion? Next Sunday, November 6, we will continue our study, led by Paul Roberts, Dean of Johnson C. Smith Seminary. This class is exploring the authorship, themes, distinctiveness, and practical application of what some consider the most engaging sections of the New Testament. The class meets at 9:45 a.m. in Room 201. All are welcome.
Children’s Classes
The Pre-K class will hear Plenty to Eat and discover how a famine reunites Joseph with his family. Elementary Classes will learn how the Prophet Elisha answers the pleas of a poor widow. Double Digits will participate in a lesson about Communion as a component of Worship.
