SANCTUARY FLOWERS
The flowers in the sanctuary are given to the glory of God and in honor of Maria Ragland’s birthday and in honor of Charlie and Dot Bowers’ 70th wedding anniversary by Ann Bowers.
YOUTH GROUP
The youth will meet at 12:30 p.m. today to go bowling. We will not meet Thanksgiving weekend, but will meet Sunday, December 4 for a youth Christmas party from 5 to 7 p.m. Keep up with all the youth news by joining our email list. Contact Chris Peters at chrispeters@morningsidepc.org.
RHO READERS
RHO Readers’ final book selection for 2011 takes us to 18th Century Japan with the novel The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell. Daisy Ottmann leads the discussion today at 12:45 p.m. in the Session Room.
CHRISTMAS PAGEANT
Fifty kids are participating in the pageant held on Sunday, December 18 at 5 p.m. Practices have started on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. in Room 001. If anyone is willing to sew a costume, build a prop, bring a pot of soup or chili, or help on the weekend of the event itself, contact Melinda Sandkam msandkam@morningsidepc.org or sign up in the Narthex.
ANNUAL CANNED FOOD COLLECTION
We have until December 10 to partner with the Preschool to fill five large canisters to overflowing. This annual holiday canned food drive will benefit Atlanta Community Food Bank which strives to provide healthy food to those facing hunger. Bring in your items throughout this season of thanksgiving to help us reach out to those in need. (Lists of recommended items are on website and the barrels themselves.)
TURKEY DAY AT CLIFTON
On Saturday, November 26, MPC will prepare and serve a Thanksgiving Dinner for the 30 homeless men at Clifton Sanctuary Ministries beginning at 5:30 p.m. If you would like to help serve or can prepare one of the dinner items, please sign up on the bulletin board located outside the Session room. WOMENS ROUNDTABLE
In November, MPC member Ginny Fergus will share her stories and personal journey with us at Women’s Roundtable. We will gather at the home of Lynn Young (277 The Prado NE, 30309), for food, fellowship and a program on Monday, November 28, from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. RSVP to kimkperez@yahoo.com.
MEET STINKYKIDS CREATOR BRITT MENZIES
StinkyKids story time and book signing event at Morningside Presbyterian Preschool, will be Wednesday, November 30. All are welcome! Britt Menzies, Atlanta mom, award winning author and creator of StinkyKids will host a story time event featuring her first book StinkyKids and the Runaway Scissors, which won the silver Mom’s Choice Award for best children’s picture book of 2011. She will read to the twos at 9:45 a.m. and our threes and pre-k at 10:15 a.m.
FREE HOLIDAY BABYSITTING
On Monday, December 5, we will offer a gift to the community of three hours of free babysitting from 5 to 8 p.m. for children, three months through fifth grade. We will serve pizza and have planned activities for each age group. You must sign up your child ahead of time, so we can have enough babysitters in place. Contact Jennifer James jennjames@comcast.net by Wednesday, November 30 with the names and ages of your children or to volunteer to make it all happen. We need your help, so please sign up today.
MUSICAL OUTING
On Tuesday, December 13, All Saints Episcopal is hosting its annual Christmas program of sacred and popular favorites presented by soloists from The Atlanta Opera Chorus. Directed by our own Walter Huff, this concert traditionally sells out. If you would like to attend, go to www.allsaintsatlanta.org to purchase tickets now! Once you have purchased tickets, email the church office @morningsidepc.org to let us know you are coming. We plan to meet for dinner and carpool to the 7:30 p.m. performance.
MPP PROSPECTIVE PARENT OPEN HOUSE - DECEMBER 1, 9:30 A.M.
The Prospective Parent Open House is being hosted to provide in-depth information about Morningside Presbyterian Preschool. This is an opportunity to hear from Director Sarah Tomaka about school curriculum and other important information. Tours will be offered by current preschool parents. AN ADVENT DISCIPLINE OPPORTUNITY
An Advent Meditation booklet, The Lord is Near, taken from the works of renown spiritual writer, Henri Nouwen, is available in the Narthex and Welcome Center. Pick-up your copy and take a couple of quiet moments each day during Advent, starting Sunday, November 27 through Christmas Day, for reflection, contemplation, prayer and escape from the bustle of the holidays.

Copies of the daily devotional Our Daily Bread are available on tables in the narthex and welcome center. You may pick one up as you leave the sanctuary this morning. Daily devotions are a wonderful way to start your day as we prepare to celebrate His birth.

Morningside Presbyterian Church turned 87 on November 15, 2011. Thanks be to God for all of the leaders and workers who have brought us thus far!
MISSIONS
Intown Collaborative Ministries is selling holiday greeting cards to support their work to serve the homeless. The cards come in packs of 5 for $30 and will be available in Fellowship Hall after church this Sunday.

Next Sunday, November 27, we will not have class. Join us on December 4 and 11 for a special two-week Advent study of Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” led by Elizabeth Rice and Mary Miller Brueggemann. The class will meet at 9:45 a.m. in Room 201. All are welcome.
Bible Series
