THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, at our best, we fall short of the discipleship you call forth from each
of us. At our worst, we belie the grace given us in Jesus Christ. Our sin remains
before us, and we are powerless to save ourselves. The strength of our own efforts
cannot make us whole. Wholeness comes only from you, and we affirm
once more our need of your grace. Forgive our sin, we pray, and work wonderfully
within us so that faithful discipleship may indeed shine forth as a light to
the nations, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: When the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman,
born under the law, in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that
we might receive adoption as children.
People: And because you are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his
Son unto our hearts, crying: “Abba, Father!”
Leader: So you are no longer a slave, but a child, and if a child, then also an heir, through
God. Believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! - Galatians 4:4-7
