THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
The darker the night, the brighter the stars, the deeper the grief, the closer is God! ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Crime and Punishment
NEW MEMBER SUNDAY
Thinking about joining Morningside Church? This Sunday, January 22 is a great time to do it. Plan to attend the Inquirers’ Class this Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in the Session Room. Contact Baron Mullis baron.mullis@morningsidepc.org to let him know of your interest.
ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
MPC’s annual meeting will be this Sunday, January 22 immediately following worship. Among the business to be discussed is the 2012 budget and the pastor’s terms of call.
MORNINGSIDE PRESBYTERIAN PRESCHOOL
MPP will accept applications for the 2012-2013 school year beginning today, January 17. Currently enrolled families and church members have two weeks for Priority Registration. On Monday, January 30, we begin Open Registration. Applications can be found at: http://www.morningsidepc.org/preschool/index.html. For more information, contact Sarah Tomaka, Director, at mpp@morningsidepc.org.
OPPORTUNITIES TO GATHER WITH MORNINGSIDE FAMILY
- One Gray Hair will meet this Wednesday, January 18 at noon in Fellowship Hall. Sarah and Peter Chatel will share with us about their trip to Turkey and Greece. RSVP to Sarah Brownlee at rsbrownlee1046@att.net.
- The Couples Group will meet at 7 p.m., this Friday, January 20, at the Princes’ home (91 Lakeview Dr. NE, 30317). All couples are welcome. If you would like to join us, RSVP to Kathy Bremer at kdbremer@bellsouth.net.

BE PART OF MPC’S FUTURE!
This month, each MPC member will be invited to take a short survey. The Vital Signs survey will provide an inclusive, comprehensive view of what energizes and excites our congregation, and our collective hopes for the future. The results will provide input to MPC’s next multi-year plan. This Friday, January 20, each MPC member will receive an email with an easy, direct link to the survey. The survey can also be taken on paper. Each individual MPC member, rather than family units or couples, is asked to take the survey. We will allow a three-week time frame for everyone to complete the survey (takes about 20 minutes). Let’s go for 100% participation! Stay tuned for the Vital Signs survey email on January 20!
FOOD NEEDED YEAR ROUND
This month, we are collecting pop-top foods, non-perishable microwave meals and can-openers for the Intown Collaborative Ministries food pantry. There is also an opportunity to work in the pantry this Saturday, January 21, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contact shepherd Nancy Collins ncollins0209@gmail.com to volunteer or for more information.
WOMEN’S ROUNDTABLE
Women's Roundtable promises to be very special on Monday, January 23, as Morningside's Pastor Emerita Joanna Adams will join us for breaking bread and a conversation titled, “What I’ve Learned Since You Saw Me Last.” We will meet at Lynn Young's home at 277 The Prado at 6:30 p.m. Dinner and drinks will be served. RSVP to Kim Perez at kimkperez@gmail.com.
CONGREGATIONAL LUNCH
Join us for a congregational lunch on Sunday, February 5 following worship. In order to be good stewards, we NEED YOU to RSVP, so that we know how much food to order. Our visitors on the 5th are welcome to attend the lunch, and we will plan accordingly. We need to start the new year with more accurate orders. We hope everyone will come, but we will only order enough for the responses received. CONTACT THE CHURCH OFFICE with your RSVP office@morningsidepc.org. Donations are accepted.
