THE INTROIT Amen, Siakudumisa (Amen, We Praise Your Name) South African
The Lord Is Present in His Sanctuary Gail Cole
Cherub Choir (Rebecca Shipley, director)

* THE CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: “Praise the Lord, all you nations! Extol him, all you peoples!
People: For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of
the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!”
Leader: Let us worship God, who creates us, redeems us and sustains us. Amen.
- Psalm 117

* THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 416 Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, though perhaps our uncleanness is hidden, it remains, nonetheless.
Though perhaps we do not wear our sins publicly, privately we know that we
have erred. Though perhaps all outward signs would show that we are alive in
faith, inwardly, we know that our commitment languishes and sometimes dies.
But you, O Lord, see us as we are. And you, O Lord, see us as we can be. So forgive
us, we pray, for our hidden sins and turn our hearts to follow you. We pray
it in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: “So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner
nature is being renewed, day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing
us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure.
People: Because we look not at what can be seen, but at what cannot be seen;
for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.”
Leader: Friends, believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. - 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 341)

THE MINUTE MESSAGE Duncan Spears

THE FIRST LESSON 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (page 161 in the pew Bible, NT)

THE ANTHEM God Is My Strong Salvation Austin Lovelace
(based on a Southern folk hymn from “The Sacred Harp”-1844)
God is my strong salvation. What foe have I to fear? In darkness and temptation, my light, my help is
near. Though hosts encamp around me, firm in the fight I stand. What terror can confound me, with
God at my right hand? Place on the Lord reliance, my soul with courage wait. His truth be thine affiance,
when faint and desolate. His might thy heart shall strengthen, His love thy joy increase. Mercy thy days
shall lengthen. The Lord will give thee peace.

THE SECOND LESSON 2 Kings 5:1-19 (page 320 in the pew Bible, OT)

THE SERMONAn Odd Cure” Baron Mullis

* THE HYMN 234 I to the Hills Will Lift My Eyes

* THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus
Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the
Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he
descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into
heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he
shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy
catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection
of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive
us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.

THE OFFERTORY Adagio Bach, arr. L. Smith

* THE DOXOLOGY AND PRAYER OF DEDICATION (Hymn 592)

* THE HYMN 376 Love Divine, All Loves Excelling (verses 1, 2, and 4)
