THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.
~Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE SUPPER AND PAJAMA PARTY
Everyone is invited to celebrate Shrove Tuesday at the annual MPC/MPP Pancake Supper and Pajama Party tonight, February 21, from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Children are invited to wear their pajamas! Morningside’s Treble Choir will sing, and you can enjoy dinner with the family while “Ruby the Clown” (Reuben Haller) as “The Cat in the Hat” delights kids and adults! Please bring NEW pajamas, socks and underwear for THREADS, a children’s ministry at All Saints Episcopal. RSVP to Jenn James jennjames@comcast.net

ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE
We begin Lent with our worship service and imposition of ashes tomorrow, February 22 at 7 p.m. We invite you this year as a Lenten discipline to add something instead of, or in addition to, giving up something. Lenten Mission Calendars will be available with a list of mission experience ideas for you and your family. Find your mission experience and brighten someone’s day!

LENTEN BANNERS
This year, we will once again hang our beautiful Lenten banners in the sanctuary. A description of each banner follows:

  • Lenten Banner #1, entitled “Hand in Hand Amidst the Journey,” symbolizes the beginning of Lent with the unsettled turmoil brought on by the anticipation of where Lent will lead us - the issues of life, questions, cares, and deep sighs of the soul along with the story of Jesusʼ death stir us deeply. The batik fabrics in shadings of maroon, gold, rust, and burgundy give visual representation to the thunderstorm of emotions that come with Lent.
  • Lenten Banner #2, entitled “Labor Along the Journey,” symbolizes the last few weeks of Lent. Our internal thunderstorm has subsided, we approach the end of Lent and though many questions and concerns linger, the peace of Christ walks with us the rest of the journey. The work or labor continues but the reassurance of the Holy Love of God through Jesus gives us comfort. The batik fabrics in shades of blue, gold and rust represent the calming and comfort of God as we come to the last few weeks of Lent.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY IS IN FULL SWING!
We have begun a home in the Thomasville Heights area with other churches for a Liberian family. Volunteers are needed for build dates through March. Look for the signup sheets on the Habitat bulletin board or contact Lynsley Tyler (lynsley@bellsouth.net).  A lunch provider is also needed for March 17.

LENTEN MISSION TRIP—March 15-17
The trip will focus on helping the North Alabama community rebuild after the devastating 2011 tornado. If you are interested in participating, contact Duncan Spears (678.612.5476duncanspears@yahoo.com). Departure will be Thursday at 5 p.m., returning Saturday evening. Meals and lodging are provided, and there is no cost for the two nights. Registration is due March 1.

BOBO NEEDS YOU!
Our growing youth program has great plans for a summer trip combining spiritual growth and service with getting to know their peers from all over the country.  To support this and other activities, it's time again to donate items for BOBO--our Buy One/Boost One auction to support youth mission and programs.  Last year's event was a rousing success and lots of fun.  Please forward a description, the retail value and your desired minimum opening bid to Carolyn Morton (carolynmorton@bellsouth.net) no later than March 12.  Preview date will be March 18, with the auction during fellowship hour March 25.

OUR SYMPATHY TO
Beth Baer on the death of her mother, Dot Truesdel, on February 16.  The funeral will be at Highland Hills Baptist Church (1370 Briarcliff Road, Macon, 31211) at 10:30 a.m. on February 22.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Highland Hills Baptist Church or Second Chance Animal Rescue and Adoptions.(www.secondchancedogs.org).

BAPTIZED LAST SUNDAY
Liza Burke, daughter of Claire and Allen Burke was baptized last Sunday.
