LAY READER
In keeping with the Presbyterian tenet of the priesthood of all believers, Morningside members participate regularly in worship leadership. Today's lay reader is Joe Ballay.
YOUTH GROUP
Today, the youth will meet from 5 to 7 p.m. at MPC to discuss “Who is Jesus?” from PCUSA’s Frequently Asked Questions for Youth!
LENTEN BANNERS
This year, we have once again hung our beautiful Lenten banners in the sanctuary. A description of each banner follows:
Lenten Banner #1, entitled “Hand in Hand Amidst the Journey,” symbolizes the beginning of Lent with the unsettled turmoil brought on by the anticipation of where Lent will lead us - the issues of life, questions, cares, and deep sighs of the soul along with the story of Jesusʼ death stir us deeply. The batik fabrics in shadings of maroon, gold, rust, and burgundy give visual representation to the thunderstorm of emotions that come with Lent.
Lenten Banner #2, entitled “Labor Along the Journey,” symbolizes the last few weeks of Lent. Our internal thunderstorm has subsided, we approach the end of Lent and though many questions and concerns linger, the peace of Christ walks with us the rest of the journey. The work or labor continues, but the reassurance of the Holy Love of God through Jesus gives us comfort. The batik fabrics in shades of blue, gold and rust represent the calming and comfort of God, as we come to the last few weeks of Lent.
WOMEN’S ROUNDTABLE
Women’s Roundtable will be held tomorrow, February 27 at 6:30 p.m. at Lynn Young’s home (277 The Prado). Our speaker will be our own Barbara Ray, who has many wonderful and inspiring stories to share. Dinner and drinks will be provided. RSVP to Kim Knight Perez kimkperez@gmail.com.
LENTEN MISSION TRIP — MARCH 15-17
The trip will focus on helping the North Alabama community rebuild after the devastating 2011 tornado. If you are interested in participating, contact Duncan Spears (678.612.5476; duncanspears@yahoo.com). Departure will be Thursday at 5 p.m., returning Saturday evening. Meals and lodging are provided, and there is no cost for the two nights. Registration is due this Thursday, March 1.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY IS IN FULL SWING!
We have begun a home in the Thomasville Heights area with other churches for a Liberian family. Volunteers are needed for Saturday build dates through March. Look for the signup sheets on the Habitat bulletin board or contact Lynsley Tyler (lynsley@bellsouth.net). Lunch providers are also needed for March 17.
LENTEN WALKING
If you are seeking a Lenten discipline that involves taking care of yourself and spending time with others in the MPC community, consider joining a walking group for five Lenten Thursdays in March. We will begin this Thursday, March 1 and also March 8 by walking 5:30-6:30 p.m. After Daylight Saving Time, we will then walk 6-7 p.m. on March 15, 22, 29. Plan to meet at the church for departure to walk for an hour in the neighborhood. Contact Melinda Sandkam with questions or to RSVP for some or all five dates!
THEOLOGY ON TAP
The men of Morningside are invited to a night of good food, fellowship, and program. Theology on Tap will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, March 6, at 7 p.m. hosted by Peter Cobb (1150 St. Charles Place, Atlanta, 30306). The night’s program, led by Baron Mullis, will be “Do Presbyterians practice Healing? Really, as in laying on of hands and all that?” This month's practice of faith for Theology on Tap focuses on what our faith teaches about healing. RSVP to the church office at office@morningsidepc.org.
LYDIA CIRCLE
Lydia Circle, a group of young female professionals and moms, welcomes members and visitors of MPC to join them Thursday, March 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the home of Alison Bradway (774 Brookridge Drive, 30306). For more information or to RSVP contact Tara Parrish taraparrish @bellsouth.net.

BOBO NEEDS YOU!
Our growing youth program has great plans for a summer trip combining spiritual growth and service with getting to know their peers from all over the country. To support this and other activities, it's time again to donate items for BOBO--our Buy One/Boost One auction to support youth mission and programs. Last year's event was a rousing success and lots of fun. Please forward a description, the retail value and your desired minimum opening bid to Carolyn Morton (carolynmorton @bellsouth.net) no later than March 12. Preview date will be March 18, with the auction during fellowship hour March 25.
SANCTUARY FLOWERS
A flower calendar is posted on the bulletin board in the hallway outside the Session Room, and if you wish to give flowers in honor or in memory of a loved one, we invite you to write your name and phone number next to the desired date. It is possible to share a date with other members if you want to give one arrangement or you may sign up alone to give both arrangements. Contact Anna Best in the church office office @morningsidepc.org for more information.
