Baron Mullis preaching

"An Offer You Can't Refuse"

Texts: Genesis 17:1-7, 15-16; Romans 4:13-25

YOUTH GROUP

Tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. the youth will begin a series developed by Chris Peters called "Finding Faith in Finding Nemo." This week we'll look at "Seeing Signs" - a discussion about how God calls middle school youth. We'll have clips, games, hands-on activities and group discussion.

FLOWERS THIS SUNDAY

The flowers in the sanctuary are given by Ann Bowers to the glory of God and in honor of Charlie Bowers’ 100th birthday and Dorothy Bowers’ 90th birthday.

LENTEN DEVOTIONAL BOOKS

Devotional books for Lent are now available for pickup in the Welcome Center and Narthex. These books are in addition to the quarterly booklets Our Daily Bread, which are also available.

THEOLOGY ON TAP

The men of Morningside are invited to a night of good food, fellowship, and program. Theology on Tap will hold its next meeting this Tuesday, March 6, at 7 p.m. hosted by Peter Cobb (1150 St. Charles Place, Atlanta, 30306). The night’s program, led by Baron Mullis, will be “Do Presbyterians practice Healing?  Really, as in laying on of hands and all that?”  This month's practice of faith for Theology on Tap focuses on what our faith teaches about healing. RSVP to the church office at office@morningsidepc.org.

LYDIA CIRCLE

Lydia Circle, a group of young female professionals and moms, welcomes MPC members and visitors to join them this Thursday, March 8, 7 to 9 p.m. at the home of Alison Bradway (774 Brookridge Drive, 30306). For more information or to RSVP contact Tara Parrish taraparrish @bellsouth.net.

COUPLES GROUP

Scotti Chonko and Lee Douglas will host the March 9 gathering of the Couples Group at Scotti’s home (5270 Beech Forest Drive, Lilburn 30047). All couples are welcome to attend.  For more information or to RSVP contact Kathy Bremer kdbremer@bellsouth.net.

RETHINKING WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS

Women of Morningside and friends from around the neighborhood and the city are invited to join Joanna Adams as she continues our Bible Study on Wednesday, March 14 with a focus on “How does the Bible answer the question, ‘What’s the matter with us?’”  The class will meet in Room 201 at 10 a.m. Childcare will be provided by reservation. Contact Anna Best in the church office office@morningsidepc.org.

THE ONCE AND FUTURE FOREST

Trees Atlanta has generously offered to donate trees and to lead a volunteer effort to plant them. Trees will be planted in and around the wooded ravine to rejuvenate the aging canopy.  If you can join us for the tree planting on March 17, 9 a.m.-12 noon, please contact Mary Chapman, chapman.maryv@gmail.com, or 404.817.0496.

LENTEN WALKING

If you are seeking a Lenten discipline that involves taking care of yourself and spending time with others in the MPC community, consider joining a walking group for five Lenten Thursdays in March.  We will continue this Thursday, March 8 by walking 5:30-6:30 p.m.  After Daylight Saving Time, we will then walk 6-7 p.m. on March 15, 22, 29.  Plan to meet at the church for departure to walk for an hour in the neighborhood.  Contact Melinda Sandkam with questions or to RSVP for some or all five dates!

BOBO NEEDS YOU!

Our growing youth program has great plans for a summer trip combining spiritual growth and service with getting to know their peers from all over the country. To support this and other activities, it's time again to donate items for BOBO--our Buy One/Boost One auction to support youth mission and programs. Last year's event was a great success and lots of fun. Please forward a description, the retail value and your desired minimum opening bid to Carolyn Morton (carolynmorton@bellsouth.net) no later than March 12. Preview date will be March 18, with the auction during fellowship hour March 25.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY IS IN FULL SWING!

We have begun a home in the Thomasville Heights area with other churches for a Liberian family. Volunteers are needed for Saturday build dates through March. Look for the signup sheets on the Habitat bulletin board or contact Lynsley Tyler (lynsley@bellsouth.net).  Lunch providers are also needed for March 17.

YOGA CLASS

MPC member Pam Sharpe, seasoned yoga teacher and fitness professional, will offer yoga classes on Tuesday mornings at MPC in Room 201 from 9:15 –10:15 a.m. for two six-week sessions (March 13-April 17; April 24-May 29). If you would like to participate, or for more information, contact Pam at 404.217.5420.

MPP SUMMER PROGRAM
