YOUTH AUCTION PREVIEW
Today we will host a preview of all our great items up for auction during fellowship hour next Sunday, March 25. Come by and see what you would like to bid on next Sunday! The auction will support youth mission and programs for this year.
MPC YOGA CLASS CONTINUES
MPC member Pam Sharpe, yoga teacher and fitness professional, is offering yoga classes on Tuesday mornings at MPC in Room 201 from 9:15 –10:15 a.m. for two six-week sessions. For more information, contact Pam at 404.217.5420.
ONE GRAY HAIR LUNCHEON
Come to lunch at noon this Wednesday, March 21 when Bob Wells will tell us about the “Mystery of the Trees”- curious, oddly-shaped trees that were used by Native Americans to guide themselves across the North American Continent to trade, hunt, communicate with other tribes, and gather plants for medicines and more. The Trail Tree Project is the subject of a recent book documenting and attempting to preserve these records of Native American life. RSVP to the Brownlees (rsbrownlee1046@att.net).
LENTEN WALKING
We continue our Lenten walking discipline on Thursdays, March 22 and 29 from 6-7 p.m. Meet at church to walk in the neighborhood. Contact Melinda Sandkam to RSVP.
OUR HOUSE COLLECTION - LAST WEEK
Our House, a Decatur preschool for children facing homelessness is in need of diapers, wipes, gently-used spring and summer clothing for children (infant-5 years). Donation baskets are in the Welcome Center through March 23.
A MESSAGE FROM YOUR DEACONS
The Book of Order reminds us that the deacons’ ministry is one of compassion, witness and service for the poor, hungry, sick, lost, friendless, oppressed or anyone in distress. Who among us is not in need of such ministry? MPC’s deacons will be reaching out to members in the coming months with the hope of making personal contact with everyone in the congregation. We want to listen to your wants, needs and prayer requests. Look for an email or call in the near future. In the meantime, if we can assist in you in any way, contact the deacon on call for the week.
EASTER EGG HUNT - MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Co-chairs Jennifer James and Robin Boren invite you to the annual Easter Egg Hunt to be held on Saturday, April 7 at 11 a.m. (activities begin at 10:45). This is our largest outreach to the community, and we hope you will invite your neighbors. Come enjoy the “hunt” itself, “Ruby the Clown” as the Easter bunny, face-painting, and refreshments. Filled egg donations are needed by April 1. Volunteers in 2 shifts are also needed: Set-up crew and egg hiders (9:30-10:30 a.m.); event volunteers and clean-up crew (10:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.). Contact Jennifer James jennjames@comcast.net to help.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY WRAPS UP!
We continue to build a home in the Thomasville Heights area with other churches. Volunteers are needed for remaining Saturday build dates in March. Look for the signup sheets on the Habitat bulletin board or contact Lynsley Tyler at lynsley @bellsouth.net.
MISSION FOR KIDS
The Big Fun event next Saturday, March 24 for elementary age children will have a slightly different twist this time. It will be in the afternoon 3-5 p.m. and will focus on preparing the whole meal for 30 men staying at Clifton Sanctuary Ministries. RSVP to Melinda Sandkam msandkam @morningsidepc.org by Tuesday, March 20, and contact Dave Johnston dmjohnst@hotmail.com if you can help serve at Clifton from 5:30-7 p.m.
MORNINGSIDE MEET-UP
Looking for an opportunity to get to know your fellow Morningsiders better--perhaps socially? Come to the Morningside Meet-up! This gathering for the adults of our congregation is a chance to enjoy conversation, meet new people and catch up with friends. Our spring meet-up is being hosted by Hillery and John McNeill (20 Stratford Pl., 30342) next Saturday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m. Please bring an appetizer or dessert to share. Beverages will be provided. RSVP to Brad Odom (jbradleyodom @gmail.com). As they say, “Be there or be square!”
MPP DINE OUT OPPORTUNITY
