* THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 482 Praise Ye the Lord, Almighty
THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE ANTHEM God of Great and God of Small Natalie Sleeth
Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee Beethoven, arr. Scholin/Huff
Cherub, Treble, and Chancel Choirs (Rebecca Shipley, conductor)
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Eternal God, we have sought your blessing upon us, yet even as we ask, we know
that we cannot merit it. Our lives stand, not as testimony to your goodness, but as reminders
of our sin. We have failed at our calling to be your people and show to the
world who you are. And so, in honesty we come seeking your healing touch upon
our lives; your cleansing Word to our sin. Forgive us, we pray, for our failures, and
help us live as though we are the recipients of grace upon grace. We ask in the name
of Jesus, and for our sake. Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: This is the message that we heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light
and in him is no darkness at all.
People: If we say that we have fellowship with him while we are walking in
darkness, we lie and do not do what is true. But if we walk in the
light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another
and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. - 1 John 1:5-7
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 210)
Before the hills in order stood, or earth received its frame, from everlasting Thou art
God, to endless years the same.

* THE HYMN 282 If Thou but Trust in God to Guide Thee
(verses 1 and 2)
* THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus
Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the
Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he
descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into
heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he
shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy
catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection
of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive
us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.
THE OFFERTORY A New Ground Henry Purcell
* THE DOXOLOGY AND PRAYER OF DEDICATION (Hymn 592)
* THE HYMN 145 Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart
* THE CHARGE AND BENEDICTION
* THE CHORAL RESPONSE Blessed Is the Man (excerpt) Ronald Anderson
For their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law they meditate day and night. They are
like a tree planted by streams of living water.
