WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY
Welcome to worship at Morningside Presbyterian Church. Please complete the information in the Friendship Pad at the end of the pews and pass the pads down and back again during the Concerns portion of worship. Worship notebooks and books for children are located on the kiosk outside the sanctuary. Nursery for infants is in Room 105; toddlers 18 months through 2 years are in Room 012. Children ages 3-8 are invited to leave after the Peace of Christ for special classes. Threes, fours & fives are in Room 011; K-2nd grade in Room 001.

FLOWERS THIS SUNDAY
The flowers in the sanctuary this morning are given to the glory of God by Debbie Fox.

VOLUNTEER AT FOOD PANTRY
Support Intown Collaborative Ministries by sorting donations at their food pantry 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. next Saturday, July 14. If you have questions, contact shepherd Nancy Collins ncollins0209@gmail.com, or sign up on the Mission bulletin board.

HYMN-SING SUNDAY
You’re in charge of hymn selection next Sunday, July 15, as we have the opportunity to call out our favorites for the congregation to sing. So get ready to page through the hymnal for those melodies you love!

MISSION CAMP
We will have 32 attending Mission Camp July 23-27! Monday, Thursday and Friday, we will need at least ten drivers each day (or half day) to get to our outreach destinations. See our needs on the bulletin board near the church office, or contact Melinda today to sign up to accompany kids to locations such as Atria Senior Community, Atlanta Humane Society, Gateway Childcare or the Intown Collaborative Ministries’ food pantry.

COUPLES GROUP
If you're in town this Friday, July 13, we hope you'll be part of an evening hosted by Carol and Bill Southwood at a restaurant to be announced.

Other upcoming events:
Party at Sarah and Peter Chatel's pool on August 12

Opportunity (in exploration stage) for a one-day MPC Couples communication retreat in the late fall, led by the Overton Institute, of which Katie Davis is executive director -- if that sounds interesting to you, let us know by July 13. Other details to follow!

As always, all couples—members and visitors—are invited and most welcome! RSVP to Kathy and Alan Bremer at 404.872.3001, kdbremer@bellsouth.net.

CLIFTON SANCTUARY MINISTRIES
MPC is providing a Welcome Home Basket for each man at Clifton transitioning from homelessness into his own home. We are collecting household pantry items for these baskets through July 15. A list of requested items can be found on the bulletin board in the Welcome Center. Please contact shepherd David Johnston with any questions at 678.705.1628 or dmjohnst@gmail.com.

GEORGIA JUSTICE PROJECT
Join other MPC volunteers in supporting the Back2School event on Saturday, July 21. Sign up to help with fun activities, arriving at Dunbar Gymnasium (477 Windsor St. SW, 30312) by 10:30 a.m. through 2 p.m. Contact Bill Means billmeans@bellsouth.net with any questions.

GEORGIA SHAKESPEARE OUTING
Illyria, 12th Night the Musical is a hit – a shipwreck, separated twins and love promise to entertain in this musical adaptation!  MPC is off to the theater for a 7 p.m. performance on Sunday, July 22.  Group tickets are $30 each (please make checks out to MPC).  Reserve your spot today with your check.  We can also share a meal together beforehand on the picnic terrace.  Contact Melinda Sandkam with any questions.  Deadline is today: July 8.

YOUTH NEWS
Don’t forget to buy one of those $10 “stock” certificates from one of our youth planning to travel to the Montreat Middle School Conference in South Carolina this month.  Hey—you get a report back from the kids plus a hot-dog lunch on Sunday, August 5, after worship.

THINK ABOUT RETREATING!
It’s not too soon to mark off Oct. 19-21 on your calendar and plan to get away to cool and lovely Montreat, NC, for our fourth annual all-church retreat.  Each year, it’s been an event to remember for the whole family.  Watch for details in the next couple of months.

SANCTUARY FLOWERS
A flower calendar is posted on the bulletin board in the hallway outside the Session Room. If you wish to give flowers in honor or in memory of a loved one, we invite you to write your name and phone number next to the desired date. It is possible to share a date with other members if you want to give one arrangement, or you may sign up alone to give both arrangements. Contact Anna Best in the church office office@morningsidepc.org for more information.

CONGRATULATIONS!
MPC joins Brian Johnson and Bryan Rogers in welcoming Jason, Benjamin and Austin to their family. The boys arrived here in Atlanta last week.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS—9:45 a.m. in room 201—The Short Course
What you didn’t know you could learn in Confirmation and why it matters for adults.

Next Sunday, July 15 we continue our discussion-based series that will take major themes from our Spring 2013 Youth Confirmation class, articulate those themes for adults, and frame them with questions related to personal and communal discipleship. Themes are complimentary but not exclusive – you are invited to join us as your schedule permits. This series, taught by Chris Peters, is designed as a refresher, primer, and thought-provoker for adults!

July 15—“Sacraments: Water, flesh, and blood, oh my!!”
A refresher on the sacraments and a look at what they mean for our lives with a focus on commitment.

CHILDREN'S CLASSES
Today the Preschool class will learn about God’s promise to Noah in the story A Rainy, Rainy Day. In the K-2 class the children will hear about a girl who told Naaman about God’s offer of salvation. He responded and was healed. We know the girl’s message, but she is anonymous.
