People: One generation shall laud your works to another and shall
declare your mighty acts.
Leader: On the glorious splendor of your majesty and on your wondrous works, I will
meditate.
People: Let us worship God, our creator, redeemer and sustainer.
- Psalm 145:1-5

* THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 483 Sing Praise to God, Who Reigns Above

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of holiness, our sin is before us. We know that we have not lived up to
our baptism. We have not forsaken the ways of sin. We have lingered in doubt
and fear and allowed them to shape who we are rather than taking our identity
from your eternal grace. Forgive us, we pray, and remake and renew us. Fashion
from our clay servants who give glory to you, for the sake of our Lord Jesus
Christ we pray. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation. The old has passed away; the new
has come.
People: All this is from God, who reconciled himself to us through Christ and
has given us the ministry of reconciliation.
Leader: That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their
trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us.
Believe the Promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! - 2 Corinthians 5:17-19

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 473)
For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child, friends on earth, and friends
above, for all gentle thoughts and mild, Lord of all to thee we raise this our hymn of
grateful praise.

THE CHORAL RESPONSE Wherever I May Wander New England folk melody

THE FIRST LESSON Ephesians 2:11-22 Tim Gargis
(page 181 in the pew Bible, NT)

THE ANTHEM Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation Dale Wood
Christ is made the sure foundation, Christ the Head and Cornerstone; chosen of the Lord, and precious,
binding all the church in one; Holy Zion’s help forever, and her confidence alone. To this temple
where we call thee, come, O Lord of hosts, today; with thy wonted loving-kindness hear thy servants as
they pray, and thy fullest benediction shed within its walls alway. Laud and honor to the Father, laud and
honor to the Son, laud and honor to the Spirit, ever Three and ever One, One in might, and One in
glory, while unending ages run.

THE SECOND LESSON Mark 6:30-34; 53-56 (page 38 in the pew Bible, NT)

THE SERMONRelentless” Baron Mullis

* THE HYMN 403 What a Friend We Have in Jesus (verses 1 through 3)

* THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ
his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the
right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick
and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of
saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.
Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be
done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our
debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from
evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

THE OFFERTORY Trio de Flûtes Jean Guilain
