People: And also with you.
THE PRELUDE Walter Huff, organist
* THE CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!
People: My soul longs, indeed it faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart
and flesh sing for joy to the living God.
Leader: Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where
she may lay her young, at your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.
People: Happy are those who live in your house, ever singing your praise.
Leader: Let us worship the Lord our God. - Psalm 84:1-4
* THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 229 From All That Dwell Below the Skies
THE TIME WITH CHILDREN Melinda Sandkam
THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to
undo ourselves. Forgive our lack of faith, our lack of care for neighbor, and our
inability to love you fully. Set us free from a past that we cannot change; open to
us a future in which we can be changed; and grant us grace to grow more and
more in your likeness and image. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: Owe no one anything, except to love one another;
People: For the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
Leader: The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder;
You shall not steal; You shall not covet;” and any other commandment are
summed up in this word, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
People: Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling
of the law.
Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. - Romans 13:8-10

* THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus
Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the
Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he
descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into
heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he
shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy
catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection
of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive
us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.
THE OFFERTORY Largo on “Search Me, O God” trad. Maori tune, arr. Hustad

* THE HYMN 400 When We Are Living
* THE CHARGE AND BENEDICTION
* THE CHORAL RESPONSE The Prayer of St. Francis (excerpt) René Clausen
For it is in giving that we receive, and in pardoning that we are pardoned. For in dying we are born to
eternal life. Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Amen.
