The flowers in the sanctuary are given by the Morningside congregation to the glory of God and in honor of Drew Stockstill's ordination this afternoon.

ORDINATION OF DREW STOCKSTILL

Please plan to be at Morningside for a service of worship at 3 p.m. today as we celebrate the ordination of Drew Stockstill. Drew is joining Morningside's staff as our Minister of Adult Education and Young Adults. Let's surround Drew with our prayers and our support as this special service is a once-in-a-lifetime event for Drew!

WELCOME GUEST ORGANIST

We welcome Charles Redmon as our guest organist/choirmaster today. Since 1978 he has served two local congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and is a board member of the Atlanta Chapter of The American Guild of Organists. In addition, Charles is currently beginning his thirty-ninth season with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus. Thank you Charles for sharing your musical gifts with us this day.

LAY READER

In keeping with the Presbyterian tenet of the priesthood of all believers, Morningside members participate regularly in worship leadership. This Sunday's lay reader is Sarah Mercer Chatel.

YOUTH GROUP

Morningside Youth meets from 5-7 p.m. tonight, and we'll kick off a new service initiative and head across the street for a cookout at Lynsley Tyler's. RSVP to Chris at chrispeters@morningsidepc.org.

FALL RETREAT IN THE MOUNTAINS

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS

Last Sunday, Morningside welcomed the following new members: David and Natalie Batchelor, Anne and David Dantzler, Natalie Holler, John Macaulay, Suzanne Macpherson and Tyler Ryan (and their children, Sophie, Vanessa, and Bridget) and Douglas Selph. Please be sure to give them a warm MPC welcome the next time you see them.

THEOLOGY ON TAP

The men of Morningside will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2 for dinner, fellowship, and a faith-oriented discussion led by Baron Mullis.  For more information, contact the church office office@morningsidepc.org.

SCOTTISH PLAY

Morningside has reserved group tickets for the 2 p.m. performance of “Macbeth” at Georgia Shakespeare on Sunday, October 28. Turn in your $30 check to Melinda Sandkam by October 14 to reserve your seat.

FALL MISSION TRIP

We invite you to join us this fall as we work with Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans. We will leave Atlanta Thursday morning, November 1, and return Sunday evening, November 4. The $150 trip cost includes housing for three nights, dinner on Thursday, lunch on Friday and snacks.  If you are interested in participating, contact Roland Behm roland. behm@gmail.com. WOMEN’S ROUNDTABLE RESUMES

Women's Roundtable will meet at Sarah Brownlee’s home (1046 Bellevue Dr. 30306) tomorrow, September 24, at 6:30 p.m. We will continue meeting on the fourth Monday of the month for fellowship, dinner and inspired conversation and will feature a guest speaker. ANNUAL CLIFTON CELEBRATION

MPC will join others next Sunday evening, September 30 to celebrate the men who have graduated from Clifton Sanctuary Ministries this year. Contact shepherd David Johnston dmjohnst @gmail.com to join the MPC table. Celebration begins at 6 p.m. at North Avenue Presbyterian.

DINE OUT OCTOBER 2

Support the preschool by dining at El Taco (1186 N. Highland) on Tuesday, October 2.  Ten percent of the night’s profits will go to MPP.

JUNGLE JAM

Back by popular request, MPP’s Jungle Jam will be Saturday, October 13, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., so mark your calendars and bring friends and family to this fun event! Jungle Jam is sure to be a great day, and we’re looking forward to spending it with your family!

LET’S BUILD A PLAYGROUND!

MORNINGSIDE “CARMEN” OUTING

MPC will have a group outing to hear Carmen on Friday, November 16, at 8 p.m. The performance will be at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Cobb Galleria Parkway. The Preschool Class will discuss the way people are to care for God's world as they respond to Take Good Care of My World!  The Early Elementary Classes will read Exodus 25:10-22 to learn about how The Ark of the Covenant was built to hold the Tablets of the Law, the Ten Commandments. The 4th & 5th grade classes will study Confession and Assurance of Pardon as components of Worship.
