World Communion Sunday

Adult Class - "The Book of the Twelve:" The Voices of Israel's Prophets
Join Morningside's Adult class this fall as we explore the rich texts of ancient Israel's prophets. This class is led by Drew Stockstill in Room 201 at 9:45 a.m.

Children: The Preschool class will wonder about God's promise to Abraham as they hear Count the Stars! Elementary classes will read II Samuel 6:1-19 and learn how David and the Israelites celebrated the return of the Ark of the Covenant with music and dance. The 4th and 5th Grade class will attend worship.

DINE OUT TONIGHT 
Support the preschool by dining at El Taco (1186 N. Highland) on Tuesday, October 2.  Ten percent of the night's profits will go to MPP (tell El Taco you are with MPP). 

THEOLOGY ON TAP-TONIGHT
The men of Morningside will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 2 for dinner, fellowship, and a faith-oriented discussion led by Baron Mullis at the home of Michael Siedschlag and Jeff Peters (1812 Meadowdale Avenue, NE 30306). RSVP to the church office office@morningsidepc.org

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAYS BIBLE STUDY-TOMORROW
This small group gets together the first and third Wednesdays of every month to study God's Word. Meeting in members' homes on a rotational basis, the hour or so that we spend in fellowship is a blessing to all. OFFICER NOMINATIONS
Officer nominating forms are now available in the narthex and welcome center. Please submit the name(s) of someone to be a candidate for Deacon or Elder. As you think about possible nominations, please keep in mind what the Book of Order states about church leaders, "In addition to possessing the necessary gifts and abilities, natural and acquired, those who undertake particular ministries should be persons of strong faith, educated discipleship and love Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord" (G-6.0106a). Please prayerfully consider your nominee(s) then ask their permission before submitting their name for consideration to the Officer Nominating Committee. All nominations are due by Sunday, October 14. If you are unable to complete a paper form, please contact Jill Davis at 404.281.0342 or jdavis@tuxox.com to make alternate arrangements to submit your nomination.

PEACEMAKING OFFERING
This Sunday, October 7, MPC will join churches around the world as we receive the Peacemaking Offering. 25 percent goes toward local efforts, 25 percent goes to the Peacemaking efforts of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta and 50 percent goes to worldwide efforts of the PC(USA). Please give generously. 

FALL PREACHING SERIES
This Sunday, October 7, Baron Mullis continues his preaching series "ThinkingTheologically About Modern Life." Don't miss the post-sermon discussion in Room 201 at 12:30 p.m. For more information, pick up a sermon series brochure available in the Narthex and the Welcome Center.

FALL RETREAT IN THE MOUNTAINS

OUR HOUSE
The mission of Our House is to break the chains of homelessness by providing early childhood education and comprehensive support services for families experiencing homelessness. Lydia Circle is working with MPP in collecting Halloween costumes for the Our House children ages 0-5 years. See the Preschool Halloween Board with pumpkin tags for each child, and please bring in a new/gently-used costume to fit one of tag requests (pin pumpkin tag to the costume and place in the Preschool or Welcome Center bins by October 22. Questions?  Contact Anne Barnette or Holly Greene.
