INTOWN COLLABORATIVE MINISTRIES
MPC is collecting food through October 28 to restock the ICM food pantry . Bring your canned meats (tuna, Vienna sausages, meaty stews - pop tops helpful) to the Welcome Center. ICM provides food to those in need in 30306/30307 zip codes.
LIBRARY WORKDAY
Contact Melinda Sandkam msandkam @morningsidepc.org to participate in the library workday this Tuesday, October 23, 9 a.m. to 12 noon to make the library more accessible for our church and preschool communities.
LET’S BUILD A PLAYGROUND!
MPC will partner with local churches to help the congregation of El Nazareno Presbyterian to create a playground for the community in Hapeville next Saturday, October 27, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join us in this New Church Development project by signing up on the bulletin board across from Room 105 or by contacting shepherds Jack Klotz jacksklotz@gmail.com and Lloyd Prince lloydprince@comcast.net.
CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
The Session has called a Congregational Meeting for Sunday, October 28 following 11 a.m. worship. The purpose of this meeting is to elect elders and deacons to the class of 2015, and to elect the class of 2013 to the Officer Nominating Committee. The Commitment Video will be shown at this time. Child care will continue.
THINKING ABOUT JOINING MORNINGSIDE
Morningside will offer visitors the following opportunities to learn more about our church. On Sunday, October 28 we will hold an Inquirers Class followed by a New Members Class on Sunday, November 4. CONGREGATIONAL LUNCH

ALL SAINTS' DAY
All Saints' Day is an observance of the church on the first day of November. Congregations observe it together on the first Sunday of November. It is an opportunity to give thanks to God for the lives of those departed from among us whom we have loved. During the Great Prayer of Thanksgiving in the communion liturgy, thanks will be given for members of Morningside and loved ones and friends close to us who have entered the Church Triumphant in the past year. Contact the church office by Wednesday, October 31 (office @morningsidepc.org) with the names of your loved ones who have died in the past year that we may offer their names in our prayer of thanksgiving.

ADVOCACY MEETING
The Presbytery's Public Advocacy Committee will offer a fall educational event in advance of the 2013 state legislative session Thursday, November 8, 7:30 to 10 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian (3003 Howell Mill Road, 30327). Breakfast will be followed by discussion with leading advocates for the Affordable Care Act & Medicaid, Legislative Ethics Reform, and Criminal Justice Reform. MORNINGSIDE “CARMEN” OUTING
MPC will have a group outing to see Atlanta Opera’s Carmen on Friday, November 16, at 8 p.m. The performance will be at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Cobb Galleria Parkway. OUR HOUSE
The mission of Our House is to break the chains of homelessness by providing early childhood education and comprehensive support services for families experiencing homelessness.
Lydia Circle is working with MPP in collecting Halloween costumes for the Our House children ages infant-5 years. See the Preschool Halloween Board with pumpkin tags for each child, and please bring in a new/gently-used costume to fit one of tag requests (pin pumpkin tag to the costume) and place in the Preschool or Welcome Center bins by tomorrow, October 22.
October brings cooler weather and our annual collection of mittens, gloves, hats and scarves for the children at Our House. Place donations on the Mitten Tree near the Church Parlor by this Friday, October 26.

This Sunday, October 21, our class will be led by Drew Stockstill, and his topic will be "The Book of the Twelve:" The Voices of Israel's Prophets. Join Morningside's Adult Sunday School class this fall as we explore the rich texts of ancient Israel's prophets.
Children’s Classes
The Preschool class will learn how a beautiful coat creates trouble for Joseph in Two Coats for Joseph. K-1 and 2nd-3rd grade classes will study Psalm 89 and talk about how they might respond to God's "steadfast love." 4th and 5th graders will study Prayer as a component of Worship.
