The flowers in the sanctuary are given to the glory of God and in honor of Catherine Scholl and Johan Segring’s marriage, which took place in Morningside’s sanctuary yesterday.
PAGEANT SIGN-UP
All children, four years through 5th grade, are welcome to be in the annual Christmas Pageant at 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 16. Be sure to sign up by tomorrow, Monday, November 5. Forms are on the bulletin board across from the nursery and on the church website. Turn in your completed forms to Melinda Sandkam.
CONGREGATIONAL LUNCH
All are welcome at lunch following worship next Sunday, November 11. The menu will be: fried and baked chicken, creamy garlic mashed potatoes, Vermont white cheddar macaroni and cheese, fresh trimmed green beans, homemade cornbread muffins and banana pudding with homemade whipped topping. Suggested donation is $10 for adults, and $5 for children. RSVP by filling out the enclosed form and placing it in the box in the church office marked “November 11 Congregational Lunch.” Your RSVP helps us to order an accurate amount of food.
MPP ALL-STAR BOOK FAIR
Giving kids access to good books will motivate them to read, and MPP’s annual book fair has a selection of fun, engaging, and affordable books! Purchase a book for your child, MPP or Our House’s library on line at http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/mpp or at the church this Monday, November 5, from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., and Wednesday, November 7 through Friday, November 9 from 8:45 a.m. to 1: 15 p.m.
ADVOCACY MEETING
The Presbytery's Public Advocacy Committee will offer a fall educational event this Thursday, November 8, 7:30 to 10 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian (3003 Howell Mill Road, 30327). Breakfast will be followed by discussion with leading advocates for the Affordable Care Act & Medicaid, Legislative Ethics Reform, and Criminal Justice Reform. BIG FUN - NOVEMBER 10
Elementary age kids are welcome at this Saturday’s, November 10 Big Fun. Our outreach projects will be to our preschool community, preparing corn muffins and pumpkin ice cream for Monday's Thanksgiving Gathering. MPC GIVES THANKS TO PRESCHOOL COMMUNITY
Our annual Thanksgiving Gathering will be Monday, November 12 from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Join us for a free dinner with crafts, games, face painting and music by the Cherub Choir. We will kick-off our canned-food drive for the Atlanta Community Food Bank, so please bring non-perishable items to the dinner. THEOLOGY ON TAP
Philip Hawkins will host the Morningside men for their monthly get-together on Tuesday, November 13, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be at the home of his neighbor Robert Hicks (2332 Bry-Mar Drive, 30345). This is a change from the regular schedule due to Election Day. Baron Mullis will lead our discussion of “What are the ethics of aging?” (How do we care faithfully for those of advanced age in our midst, family and friends?) MORNINGSIDE “CARMEN” OUTING
MPC will have a group outing to see Atlanta Opera’s Carmen on Friday, November 16, at 8 p.m. The performance will be at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Cobb Galleria Parkway. LGBT & FRIENDS

THANKSGIVING AT CLIFTON
On Saturday, November 24 following Thanksgiving MPC will order pizzas for the 30 men at Clifton as they enjoy football and a restful day. We need volunteers to provide the salad and dessert for the meal. If you are able to provide either to Clifton in the Candler Park neighborhood by 5:45 p.m. please contact David Johnston (dmjohnst@hotmail.com). LIBRARY RENOVATIONS
Check out the newly refurbished Children's Library off the narthex (children's worship packets have been moved into the library). Also, see the newest addition to the collection for MPC members (the grown-up variety) in the Session Room. We have a growing collection of the books the RHO Readers Group have read over the years. There is still work to be done with both collections. Contact Jennye Guy jennyeguy @earthlink.net if you can be a part of the newly forming library committee.
ATLANTA OPERA CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Purchase your tickets early for the Monday, December 10 concert at All Saints' Episcopal, performed by eight members of the Atlanta Opera Chorus and led by our own Walter Huff. Once you have tickets through All Saints website, let the church office know you are coming, and we will pick a place to enjoy dinner before show. This concert will sell out!
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES
Children are needed for the 8 p.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. The usher coordinators are looking for six children between the ages of six and twelve to hand out candles at the 8 p.m. service (arrive at 7 p.m. as doors open at 7:15). Next Sunday, November 11, our class will be led by Drew Stockstill, and his topic will be "The Book of the Twelve:" The Voices of Israel's Prophets. Join Morningside's Adult Sunday School class this fall as we explore the rich texts of ancient Israel's prophets.

Preschool children hear about the time God chose Moses to lead God's people in a story about the "Burning Bush." K-1st and 2nd-3rd grade classes will learn that King Solomon held a great festival of worship to dedicate the completion of the Temple in Jerusalem. 4th and 5th graders attend worship.
