DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Copies of Our Daily Bread devotional booklets covering the advent season and into the new year are available in the Narthex and Welcome Center. Feel free to take one as you leave the sanctuary this morning.
CHRISTMAS PAGEANT
Last call for little angels and sheep. Practices have begun on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. in Room 001. Sign up today to help with prop workdays, sewing or hemming costumes. Those who can volunteer as stage hands are needed for two hour rehearsal on Saturday, December 15 and evening of pageant on December 16. We are also seeking volunteers to provide a pot of their best soup or chili recipes for dinner following pageant which includes the annual Carol Sing in Fellowship Hall. Contact Melinda Sandkam msandkam@morningsidepc.org for all above-mentioned items and/or see sign-up on bulletin board across from nursery.
FAMILY CHRISTMAS TREE
This year we’re planning something different. We’ll make a Family Room of Fellowship Hall with a large, live tree to hold special ornaments that you bring. We’re inviting each member of our community of faith to contribute one, non-breakable ornament to decorate the tree. We’ll have collection baskets around the church on Sundays, December 2 and 9. We’ll install and decorate the tree on Wednesday, December 12 and thereafter it will offer its glow and warmth to all the activities we share together during the rest of Advent. It's not too early to be finding or making the perfect ornament to represent you on our family Christmas tree.
THANKSGIVING AT CLIFTON
Next Saturday, November 24 following Thanksgiving MPC will order pizzas for the 30 men at Clifton as they enjoy football and a restful day. We need volunteers to provide salad and/or dessert for the meal. If you are able to, contact David Johnston dmjohnst @hotmail.com. We invite you to stay and enjoy fellowship with the men by also serving dinner!
FREE HOLIDAY BABYSITTING
Each year, MPC offers three hours of childcare to the families in our community as a holiday gift. Support this outreach by volunteering to help Monday, December 3, 4:40 to 8:15 p.m. Early volunteers will welcome over 75 kids but later volunteers are just as welcome to serve as relief and help with clean up. Contact Jennifer James jennjames@comcast.net to volunteer or sign your child up today.
LIBRARY RENOVATIONS
Check out the newly refurbished Children's Library off the narthex (children's worship packets have been moved into the library). Contact Jennye Guy jennyeguy@earthlink.net if you can be a part of the newly forming library committee.
ANNUAL CANNED FOOD DRIVE
Through December 14 we will be filling the Atlanta Community Food Bank barrels at MPC. Requested items can be found on the barrels and the church website. ACFB partners with 600 non-profit agencies across 29 counties. An estimated 16.9% of those living in the Food Bank's service area don't always know where they will find their next meal.
ATLANTA OPERA CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Purchase your tickets early for the Monday, December 10 concert at All Saints' Episcopal, performed by eight members of the Atlanta Opera Chorus and led by our own Walter Huff. Some of the featured singers will include Tami Giusto, Megan Mashburn, and Tim Miller. Once you have tickets through All Saints website, let the church office know, and we will pick a place to enjoy dinner before the show. This concert will sell out!
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES
Children are needed for the 8 p.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. The usher coordinators are looking for six children between six and twelve years to hand out candles at the service. Contact Shari Tant sdtant51@gmail.com if interested.
MEET, GREET AND EAT
