THOUGHT OF THE WEEK

COMMITMENT UPDATE
It is great news to be able to report that Morningside's 2013 Commitment season is well underway. As of Dec. 1st, we have received 154 pledges totaling $675,260. This figure includes $75,000 in new pledges and represents an increase in giving for much of our congregation! This is a wonderful start, but we're not done yet - we're still racing for the finish line on Commitment 2013, and there are only two Sundays remaining before the Session looks at next year's budget. If you haven't yet pledged, you'll be hearing from our commitment team in the near future - we want to make sure as many of our members have the chance to show our commitment as possible! Well done, and keep up the good work!
DECEMBER 4-THEOLOGY ON TAP
Tonight Theology on Tap will be hosted by Richard Brownlee (1046 Bellevue Drive, 30306) at 7 p.m. Baron Mullis will lead the discussion topic "Is It Too Early To Talk About Politics Yet?" RSVP to the church office office@morningsidepc.org.
DECEMBER 9-SPECIAL MUSIC SUNDAY
This Sunday, the Chancel Choir will present "Great Music of Christmas" during the 11:00 worship hour, as a Special Music Service. Walter Huff and the choir have offered this type of program before, and it is extremely popular. Offering a wide range of sacred Christmas music, the program will include selections from Handel's Messiah, the Bach and Rutter Magnificats, and Saint-Saëns' Christmas Oratorio - plus a lively Nativity spiritual (Round the Glory Manger) and a Carol Fantasia by Gustav Holst. Guest soloists will be Carrie Kahl and Kristin Vienneau with Mark Mashburn, trumpet. Invite family and friends!
DECEMBER 10-ATLANTA OPERA CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Purchase your tickets NOW for the concert at All Saints' Episcopal, performed by eight members of the Atlanta Opera Chorus and led by our own Walter Huff. Some of the featured singers will include Tami Giusto, Megan Mashburn, and Tim Miller. Once you have tickets through All Saints' website, let the church office know, and we will pick a place to enjoy dinner before the show. This concert will sell out!
FAMILY CHRISTMAS TREE
We're inviting members of our faith community to contribute one, non-breakable ornament to decorate a large, live tree in Fellowship Hall. Place your special ornament in the collection baskets around the church through December 9. Tree decorating is December 12.
CHRISTMAS PAGEANT VOLUNTEERS
We invite you to help with prop workdays, sewing or hemming costumes. Those who can volunteer as stage hands are needed for a two-hour rehearsal on Saturday, December 15 and the evening of the December 16 pageant. To volunteer contact Melinda Sandkam msandkam@morningsidepc.org.
